Although some of the fans can be down-right competitive about who is a "real" fan. Once when I made a comment about part of a show, that was objective but negative, I got all this flak including "shows the difference between fans and people who go to shows." I thought that was out of line!

Luckily we won't find that among the good people around here!

several years ago I took my then-young daughters to see "The Dead" not knowing how long they'd be doing it and so they could have the experience young and before it was too late. On the way in, some wook zipped our tickets out of my daughter's back pocket.

It was not the experience I wanted to share with them, but a lesson learned, including on changing times, not for the better. And where not to carry tickets.

I'm sure there was hippy-contests going on at Lockn and I see it some when DSO plays here, and then there are the trustifarians. Me, I like to dress appropriately for the event, something a little fun, but I'm not going to put on a costume like some of the fans who are mainstream elites in real life.

But the dressing up doesn't bother me as much as the bad attitudes do, like the fights, rip-offs, and even riots sometimes.
Then again, they aren't using Hells Angels for security any more (which was not just a problem at Altamont).

Competitive wooking, look for it in the next Olympics...

Speaking of wooks, my next door neighbor was chugging whiskey and beer at 6am when we pulled up into the line of cars aka the former field of broken dreams. He and his girlfriend got into shouting arguments every single night and morning. First one was because he supposedly ditched her Thursday night, i forget the reason for the second one, and the last one was the most memorable.

I get woken up at 4 or 5 am to him shouting. What I surmise in the early hours of the morning is that he thought she stole $200 or $300 from him - which seems to have been a large chunk of his life savings. They get into an argument the evening before for which I was not present and go their separate ways. She shows back up to the tent late that evening and he begins the accusations of stealing as well as accusing her of going and banging some other wook somewhere in the mass of tents. He begins what can only begin described as a multi hour verbal beration of said wookette while I try to hide my laughter at the absurdity of the situation.

More variations of the term whore, slut, etc. were uttered in this roughly three hour span than I could possibly remember; he also begins to toss her possesions out of the tent while telling her what he is doing the whole time - I can only assume she was pretending to sleep. Other of hour neighbors attempt to calm him down to no avail with one even offering to repay the lost money.

Finally the drugs wear off or the booze kicks in and he manages to pass out. 12:00 noon the next day rolls around and I am enjoying some of Colorado's finest at my tent after the Keller morning set when a cop on a huge horse moseys his way up next to me and along with another mounted officer who comes from the other direction wake the dude up for a conversation. He denies all of the previous nights events - I'm still not sure if he was being untruthful or simple could not remember what happened.

I couldn't agree more with ya. While I had a really good time in 2014, 2013 was a lot more fun. More...relaxed.
