RFID Bracelets- Big Brother Alert

If I wanted to be upset at someone about this, it would be the insurance companies. They're the reason this is necessary, and if the costs associated aren't controlled somehow, it's either don't have the fest or pass that expense on to the ticket purchaser. I remember liability got real pricey in the late 80s and early 90s, and public pools and parks were closing left and right. That's probably why we have so much corporate sponsorship of venues these days. 

My civil liberty is not at stake here. This was a transaction between two private entities, and the deal I was offered said that by purchasing the ticket I consented to being searched and now to wear an RFID tag. I have a choice: I could sell my ticket, eat the loss and not go, or not have purchased the ticket in the first place. Now if the government said it was mandatory, you'd hear me squawk a bit, on principle at least. I don't fear that too much either, not because "if you're doing nothing wrong you have nothing to fear," but because I don't give enough credit for competency to the clowns I see in authority to actually cause me a headache. I find it peculiar that some point and laugh at these clowns on the one hand and then fear them on the other. I suppose some folks can't sleep because the clowns will eat them, or something.

I find the idea of taking to the internet to complain about being spied upon ironic as well. Every packet of data sent through TCP/IP has a unique identifier that's logged somewhere. Those logs may be encrypted, but given enough time and diligence any encryption can be broken. The bottom line: Google knows what kind of porn I prefer, so why on Earth would I trouble myself to worry whether the event staff wants to know if I'm on the property or have wandered off the reservation? 'Cause this isn't GPS we're talking about, and that's about all that RFID can tell you.

The GA bracelets definitely do not have RFID chips in them.

They used them in 2011 for the first time at roo it was cool because you could meet N greet all by accessing the board available on site to find those you wanted to meet .

in roo 2012 they didnt use them for entrance/exit, just to check in at various locations that were linked to social media

With the RFID tech I have referenced above doesn't require a "scan". The RFID is about locating High traffic hotspots. i.e. the ssssss in the night. Read the about the tech above.

 Here's a little information from my personal experience with RFID at the last four Roo's.Yes they eliminate ticket fraud.Yes they are much more comfortable than the hospital type plastic bands that have been used in the past.Hell,I continually forgot I was wearing a bracelet.Yes they speed up entry into the venue.Yes they are more convenient than a paper ticket that is easily misplaced or damaged beyond recognition.YES THEY ARE GATHERING INFORMATION ABOUT YOU!One of the features at this years Roo was an option to stop by a kiosk at each stage to swipe your RFID chip prior to each set.In return you would receive pictures of that sets performance e-mailed to you.I DID NOT VISIT A SINGLE KIOSK during my stay at Roo,yet since i have returned home I have been receiving e-mails regarding each and every artist I saw perform.All of these e-mails have been information about purchasing their newest release or merchandise.I have not received any correspondence for any artist I did not attend.Coincidence?I don't believe so.If this information is being gathered and used,what else is being collected?Rember,every RFID bracelet is linked directly to you through your e-mail account and various other information provided during the ticket purchase process as well as RFID bracelet activation.If Corporate America is actively utilizing this information then I must assume Big Brother has an interest as well.

odd. i never checked in at a stage either and i have not received a single email. your rfid must have been on steroids.

don't kid yourself...big brother is every where. hes watching you.....trust me...don't trust the government!!! just kidding....but seriously, you can be monitored from just about everywhere. chips, drones, hidden video cameras. cant even poop without the man watching. once your on the grid......
