there were actually 2. facing the stage, there was the one to the right that you speak of, but there was also one on the left side which i used several times to reach the conveniently placed port-o'sBut there was one entrance into this beer garden area, enough for two people to stand side-by-side and they put a trashcan in the center.

pretty sure i called him an asshole in the first 2 minutes of meeting him, but he was actually very cool. i think even YOU would have had a good time hanging out with us. both bill and TOO were great to hang with.

so, i recorded one of the songs with my phone just to see how it turned out. i skimmed through it and the audio seems less than awful, but the video is kinda shaky. i mean, who the fuck can stand still while this shit is going on on stage?! but if only one person gets a kick out of it, it'll be worth it. so, if you weren't able to make it but still want a tiny taste of what it was like, check it out.

So do you guys think they are going to utilize this at Lockn or is it too out of the way? Late night? Alternate stage in years to come? Did they invest much in infrastructure or could it be removed with a Bobcat and a couple shovels?

I would think so. Much better than hiking all the way to the one in the woods and It'll hold a lot more people. Infrastructure wise it's about the same as the Relix/Shakedown stage...but bigger. The stage was a standard collapsible, but the sound booth was in a poured concrete pit dug into the side of the hill. The wheelchair area next to it was also poured concrete with a good railing; as nice an area for folks needing a good parking spot as any I have seen anywhere.Infrastructure was very temporary. Dont think they will use it as it would take out too much car camping but Im guessinh
also we noticed thousands of yards of strung lights all over the property held up by new wooden poles. Gonna be a little handy for folks trying to figure where their tents are at three in the morning.
has anyone heard anything about the country concert allegedly to be held at a Lockn?

A few thoughts and observations. Some have been discussed.
I thought it was a great spot for a show. The only negative (other than the garden) was that the ground cover wasn't quite ready...a few soft spots buried under lots of mulch. The grass was recently planted and spotty. Any bad spots were covered in straw or mulch. The weather was great, so there weren't any concerns. A rain storm would have been very messy.
The beer garden wasn't the most ideal, but I didn't think it was too bad either. It was on the hill, and you could see and hear from anywhere inside. There were 2 tents serving, and the one nearest the main entrance was packed, yet nobody was at the 2nd one. Also, if you moved to the other side of the garden, it wasn't nearly as crowded. They were supposed to have a private bar in the VIP area, but the local liquor nuts wouldn't allow that.
The orchestra area was a gated off spot that ran from the soundboard up to the stage. There were a ton of folks in there with chairs. Yet everyone stayed back about 20 feet from the rail. And of course, that filled in for TTB. I was amazed at how easy it was to get a spot on the rail.
The box office/will call areas were your typical tents.
One cool thing was they allowed you to leave the venue and come back in (hand stamp).
I got there about 4, and literally parked in front of the entrance. Traffic was pretty slow until about 5:30. After the show, it looked like traffic was moving very slow getting out. I just laid down and dozed for a while. When I woke up, the lot was empty. The show ended just about 10:30, and I pulled out of an empty lot at 11:30...so I guess it didn't take too long to get out.
