I thought the editing of the post "Going to Lockn but Don't Want to Camp?" was in poor taste and uncalled for. You could have simply said that you do not allow solicitation, which you did, and left it at that. Or you could have deleted the post entirely and moved on, but you didn't. Didn't really think it was necessary to edit her words and ridicule her. I would like to think that as a group we are better than that. Sarah could have become a vital member of this community but now she will probably just leave thinking that we are a bunch of dicks. I love being a part of this community and it seems more like family sometimes but if this is how we are going to treat people then maybe it is time for me to move on.

If you choose to ban me for speaking my mind then so be it. If not then let's get on with the show!

Although I found the edit job to be funny I can see what The Other One is talking about. Since we do invade their community for 4 days it probably would have been more polite to delete the post & suggest see contact the festival where they may have posted her ad or put it on facebook. Don't move on Other One sometimes any family can be a little dis-functional but it's all a big hug in the end.

I don't know what was edited but I saw it as harmless; advertising can be informative. Plus what you all said. If a local food store wanted to post an ad about what it had, I think that would be fine; never Walmart, though. Moderator's discretion, if I may suggest it.

Well said, aside from the last bit of the paragraph. I brought up many of these points in the admin forum. I didn't much care for the edits. Spam is one thing, a personalized message from a local business owner is another. I think lessons have been learned and we can move forward.

My 2 cents: I don't like blatant advertising on this forum. There's people who've already paid to advertise here, and I used to pay to make them go away. Times got tight with the 50th anniversary; what can I say? For the record, I advocated doing something about it.

That said, I think yeah...maybe Dylan went a little too far. If she was a random spammer, instead of a local business, she would've deserved that and worse, though.

The deal-breaker for me (don't wanna speak for Dylan, but I'm pretty sure him too) was that she couldn't be bothered to register an account. Cripes, at least make an attempt at engaging before the hard sell! Pretty sure we'd have gone easier on her otherwise.

At any rate, I about wet myself laughing.

Oh, and Steve? You're lucky we let you live, much less have an account. :-P

I knew that it wouldn't stay up when I saw the post. I about pissed myself reading Dylan's edit. I read his explanation before I read the edit so I didn't see any harshness in it. In it he was almost apologetic and offered Sarah the option to join and explained the reasons for editing it. I hope Sarah has a sense of humor and joins this forum.
That aside, Other One you are one of my favorite people on this board. Your perspective and input is like curry in Indian food or salsa in Mexican food. Don't let this sour your love for us.
A while back I was in a childish exchange and was a self righteous asshole to another member and that was like putting sand in any ethnic food. In my opinion that was way worse than this and I think most everyone has forgiven me.
All in all I'm thinking that we love you, and hope we can all grow from this but most of all don't want to lose anyone over it and hope we end up attracting people to join.

kind of a Nelson county resources would be cool as long as it didn't take over recent posts but they have to join. IMO
