If Lockn' were to do a country/bluegrass/roots fest, like it's been rumored, what would your wishlist/lineup be?

Good list. Add Robert Earl Keen, and delete Willie Nelson (BTDT) and it's a great list!

I wouldnt be going. I kinda lran a little country in some of my jamband likes but not enough to go to a whole festival.

Looking at that list... Many of the acts on there I wouldn't consider country, and enjoy immensely. Many of the country festivals down this way have 1 headliner and 20 bands I've never heard of. I like bluegrass but couldn't do a whole festival of that either. A mix of everything works best for me.

I think for it to work it would have to be country, roots music, southern inspired rock, and bluegrass. Not enough solid country artists alive to do strictly country.Looking at that list... Many of the acts on there I wouldn't consider country, and enjoy immensely. Many of the country festivals down this way have 1 headliner and 20 bands I've never heard of. I like bluegrass but couldn't do a whole festival of that either. A mix of everything works best for me.

I beg to differ. "Not enough solid country artists alive to do strictly country" is not true. Not enough that you like to make a whole fest that you would attend is true. But for a ton of people there are plenty of acts to fill a fest. Not any music I go see nor are those the people I go to see music with. But don't kid yourself there are more than enough folks listening to what I consider lame country to fill a fest. No one said that the audience would be the same. The real question is whether or not those people would go camp out or not. RV it up like NASCAR? Sure. Camp out in tents... not so sure about that.

After thinking about it I think they would too. I was initially envisioning beehive country princesses not wanting to get their nails dirty. I know, I know, stereotyping and sexist for the double whammy. But then I started thinking about my wife's cousins and they would be plenty comfortable at a fest with like minded folks. They would have zero interest in Lockn. A country themed fest on the other hand would be right up their alley.I think they would. They would also drink a shit-ton of bud light.
And drinking a shit-ton of Bud Light would make a shit-ton of money and THAT is the reason people risk a shit-ton of money to put on a fest.

There used to be a country fest called Jamboree that had all the "young country" hat acts--what you, I assume, and I would call lame country. And wasn't Charlie Daniel's Volunteer Jam a country fest? Willie's picnic?
I think they would pack in a venue like lockn's (unless Nascar is running that weekend nearby) And I would expect the promoters to use the facility for that.
Also, I think the Christian music scene could pack the Lockn facility for a long weekend, too, especially with Liberty U right down the road. I think they may already have fests.

But that type of "lame country" fest would not likely include many bands on Tatanka's good list, nor would it include me in the audience!

Yea, but screw that. That's why i said "solid" country artists. If Lockn' is putting it on, I'd expect it to be closer to my list and not Blake shelton, miranda lambert, and a bunch of bro country.I beg to differ.
