I will go to this one of these years, but I'm thinking this is not the year. Between Chicago, Lockn, Dead and Company, and now the Barn Bash, I think we are all tapped out this year. Course, I said that before I bought the Barn Bash tickets, so I wouldn't close the door just yet.

Not a Shapiro production to my knowledge. Bands do not combine per se but there are some collaborations that happen (guess that is combining right?). Official jam starts about 7 pm and goes until about 4 am the next morning. That does not include the Pre Jam that happens the night before (VIP event) or the Jam By Day that happens in the afternoon before the Jam Proper. It is quite the marathon and well worth it.

Tickets are just $60 + $2.50 facility fee for over 7 hours of music!

Downtown Inn and Suites. Nothing fancy but clean and functional and within walking distance. You are going to love Asheville.

It's been several years since I went to the Xmas Jam...but, if memory serves me correct beer sales must end by law at 2am in NC (again it's been a few years so that may not be correct anymore).

4am is an approximate end time. (don't be disappointed if it ends at 2am or 2:30am or 3am....like Lockn the music is worth it)

I will definitely be there. Went last year for the first time (just moved to NC last year) and loved it. With this year's line-up there is no way I could miss it.

Probably won't make it until 2 or 3 in the morning, but I know what I do see will be worth the ticket price, hotel, and 4 hour drive! And any excuse to visit Asheville is always welcome.
