If you could afford VIP tickets would you do it over GA

I did VIP for the better camping and related facilities; I spend much of my concert time in GA with my proletariat friends and family. Just for viewing, free water and $2 off beer? Not worth it, unless you are so serious about the music you don't want to socialize.

But overall for the camping it was worth it and I did appreciate, and take advantage of, the other perks, and I was solo so my "family cost" was only the $400 difference.

I have done VIP both years and will do it again this year. It is more expensive for sure, but here is what you get for the money.

1. Much better camping, that is much closer. We watched some of the music from our tent during the rain storm last year. You can run back to your tent to grab a sandwich or a beer if you want. Save some money that way.
2. The VIP area is much better to watch the shows, you can come and go to your space with little effort. Leave your book bag etc in your spot and it will be there when you come back.
3. Very little security to go from your tent to the show.
4. Some free meeals (a dinner and a Brunch) and snacks and cheaper beer. Free bottled water. Save some money there.

Overall, I would say that it is worth it, but if $800 is going to break you, you will still have fun with the regular tickets. I only go to one big festival per year now, so I blow it out.

I can't see myself doing VIP, even if it made financial sense to me. I'd rather spend that money on other things (like more festivals). By the same principle, I could probably buy all of my clothing brand new, but I prefer to shop the thrift stores. That's just the kind of girl I am.

We could afford VIP. It would be a push, but we could do it. It may limit some of the other things we could do.

I would like to think I wouldn't do it even if I could easily afford it. For two reasons:  I don't see any real value there.  I mean I guess the only thing of value I think it offers to me are bathrooms and toilets.  The view....I prefer to be on the rail.  The closeness...we are quite close in tent only camping.  Just don't see value there.  I know other people evaluate this differently than I do.

Second, I just like being part of the entire festival atmosphere along with most of the rest of the crowd.

No offense to those people who do VIP, I just prefer to be with the great unwashed masses.

Your going to love it Gangleader! I don't even take any food except treats. They feed you very well & being to walk right down to the front of the stage is wow. Have plenty of room on your camera, you'll get great pics. The only thing is I sometimes go back to the GA area for the sound. Being that close the sound sometimes goes right over your head. But the sound will be good for the late shows in the tent. Look for my flag & come visit.
