Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
We are doing VIP this year after GA last year. We are also going with VIP RV camping. Much closer so the walk isn't bad. You can hop right over to your site and grab your own beers and food as needed, relaxing and eating there. Flush toilets and free showers. 2 meals. Free h20 and some sodas. Better viewing. And with the RV - I've got AC, hard-sided living space (no leaks in rains), my own shower and toilet when needed, fridge, oven, etc... and electricity!!!! It IS more expensive, but if you can afford it do it. I think having an RV accomplishes most of what you pay extra for at VIP--shower/bath, quieter neighbors. The food/bev perks are nice but financially can't make the difference unless you drink 250 more beers. Swag isn't worth it; special entrance didn't seem to matter. The only real intangible, of personal value, is the VIP viewing areas, which were nice, but I was in GA for more viewing, night and day, so it wasn't that big a swing. one reason VIP is worth it, is because if you are a bearer, you to take the next VIP superior in line, regardless. for the shoulder ride: Please note: This forum is in no way officially associated with Lockn' Festival or its promoters.
If you could afford VIP tickets would you do it over GA

First time at Lockn, are VIP tickets worth the extra $
I'm going on Thursday-Saturday and was trying to decide if I should go for it.
I'm taking the shuttle from Lynchburg, so its only for the show tickets.
Opinions?
Thanks

we GA moteled it from Lynchburg last year. We are VIP and camping this year. Flush toilets are worth it alone. Lots of other perks like viewing options. Plus you get shoulder rides from stage to stage

But overall for the camping it was worth it and I did appreciate, and take advantage of, the other perks, and I was solo so my "family cost" was only the $400 difference.

1. Much better camping, that is much closer. We watched some of the music from our tent during the rain storm last year. You can run back to your tent to grab a sandwich or a beer if you want. Save some money that way.
2. The VIP area is much better to watch the shows, you can come and go to your space with little effort. Leave your book bag etc in your spot and it will be there when you come back.
3. Very little security to go from your tent to the show.
4. Some free meeals (a dinner and a Brunch) and snacks and cheaper beer. Free bottled water. Save some money there.
Overall, I would say that it is worth it, but if $800 is going to break you, you will still have fun with the regular tickets. I only go to one big festival per year now, so I blow it out.

I would like to think I wouldn't do it even if I could easily afford it. For two reasons: I don't see any real value there. I mean I guess the only thing of value I think it offers to me are bathrooms and toilets. The view....I prefer to be on the rail. The closeness...we are quite close in tent only camping. Just don't see value there. I know other people evaluate this differently than I do.
Second, I just like being part of the entire festival atmosphere along with most of the rest of the crowd.
No offense to those people who do VIP, I just prefer to be with the great unwashed masses.

As far as being inside, I always gravitate to somewhere around the soundboard.
And lastly, I do not like to where necklaces/lanyards. Just not my thing.

Most important is the MD&E show. One of my dearest friends is original alumni & will be singing the show one more time. For me this is an Experience of a Lifetime to see her perform this Epic Event. I want her to be able to hear me Screaming her name...And tons of great photos.
Looking for to meeting up with this group at the festival ~~ I'm a Very Happy Super VIP Camper ~ Any other SVIPs here??

You're friend w/ Rita Coolidge? That's cool.

No Leon on keyboard on this song, which is interesting to me as I only know Leon as a keyboard player and his guitar is really tasteful, understated, and very good on all the MD&E stuff.
I truly doubt Leon will take on the "call to duty" with the talent that's going be on stage at Lockn', but good to know he could rise to the occasion in the day.
