So, I'll be going out in the next couple of days to stock up on some food for cooking at camp. I was hoping that some of you that have a little more fest experience could give me some advice. I'm mostly worried about breakfast/early lunch and late night snacks. I was thinking bacon or sausage and eggs and bagels or toast and fruit for breakfast. Maybe hotdogs or burgers for late night feasting. I doubt that I'm going to be able to find a time that I really want to walk back to camp mid day, so I want something that will fill me up in the morning and last as much of the day as possible, so I don't have to spend what little extra money I have on vendor food. Thanks for any advice you guys can offer.

So you have a propane grill, then? We don't have any experience with large fests, but we do with regional bluegrass fests. If anyone doesn't have a grill or camp stove, ours is available if we're at camp. All we ask is that you chip in a little something for the propane.

The only thing I "cook" is espresso. Everything else is cold or room temps. And it's mostly breakfast food. Roo 02 I cooked lamb chops and have degraded cooking since then to the point of boiling water and making coffee only. YMMV

Ooh! Integrated grill and stove? Very nice! We have a portable grill that actually takes a regular size propane tank with an adapter and a separate stove. I'll come right out and say it: I'm jelly!

Still, for people who are not you, I want them to know they can cook at our camp. Also, we're bringing a shit-ton of cheap hotdogs just to share. If you just need something to fill your belly, and you're not too concerned with what it is, we can feed you. I wouldn't want to think of anybody going hungry. I know there's gotta be at least a few people who blew their whole wad on the tickets; God knows I would've when I was young...

We have a propane grill and propane stove that both run on 1 pound cans and a 3 burner stove in the RV with an oven , a microwave, a nu wave oven mini, a coffee maker and a fridge . Omelettes in the morning as Jim and I will be going to church in the AM , since it's available. We will probably have some coffee in the morning and eat breakfast after church, go see some music for a few hours , come back to camp for a nice mid festival day snack and late night dinners.

Great hot grill though.

I got the old fashioned green coleman stove and the little weber Q propane grill or whatever it's called. We are filling up on dinner before the music and probably dogs and burgers late night. Grab snack stuff inside during the music. I got steak, chicken, shrimp, and ribs prepped and vacuumed sealed in my freezer chest, going to use them as ice packs the first day and grab ice wednesday night once we get settled at the hotel.

However, I'm bringing my backpacking stove and enough to boil water for tea and fresh ground coffee. Maybe, just maybe we'll do up a little sausage or something, but:

1. Coffee / wake up
2. Bagel & cream cheese + fruit
3. Bloody Mary
4. Cast invisibility spell on clif bars, beef jerky and adult drink
5. Walk into performance area

I'm not much of a believer myself, but I just might accompany you to the church if you're going on Sunday morning, only because they sound like they're very cool.

My general fest list:
Mostly snack stuff- clif bars, trail mix, pringles, lance crackers, etc.

Tortillas, cheese, pesto for quesadillas
Hot dogs.
Peanut butter
Bread.

For me the key is simplicity. I know some folks enjoy camping cooking, but I prefer quick and foolproof.
If I'm in the mood for fancier fare I'll hit up a food vendor.

The quality of food vendors at Locks appears better than most fests!

They sell these breakfast bag things in the supermarket. The one we get has hash browns and bacon or sausage and peppers. I think Jimmy Dean makes them.

Throw it in the pan and let it cook most of the way through and then add some eggs right in there and scramble them up. Minimal mess and deliciously filling.

We don't cook much more at festivals though. I never feel much like it after dancing for 12 hours. Especially cleaning up the mess. We will be finding some nice breakfast burritos or something from a vendor.

I have a food allergy that keeps me from eating out without massive planning first. I even have to make my own condiments from scratch and Jim is on a special diet so we do not have the luxury of using food vendors. You are lucky.

We go the dehydrated route. We're planning on buying 1 meal a day and cooking 2 of the dehyrated ones. they're actually pretty good, have a lot of protein and make packing REALLY easy. I have one bag for my food and it's mostly filled with lollipops

All we need is the stove and kettle. The cooler can be reserved for beer, beer, and beer!

I also have the same Cook stove sneake.
I bought it mostly for the grill section that way I can always cook a hot dog anytime. I'll also be making shish kabobs with shrimp, ribeye, onions, and green peppers. I use the metal skewers too btw. For breakfast, (or anytime) I found a neat Hash Browns meal where ya just add water. Its made by Hungry Jack and comes in a little milk carton thingy. Not sure if it's any good or not, but hey, this ain't no restaurant! I'm mostly concerned with a good breakfast each day like bacon, eggs, cereal, oatmeal grits etc, and just baloney and cheese sammich's for lunch. Hot dogs and hamburgers for later when possible. I'm also bringing cheezits, chips, cookies, pistachios, and whatever else I can think of, just for the hell of it!
Cant forget the case of Bud Light, and the Capt' Morgan!
