anyone else dig this group? I saw them open up for Jack White last year and fell in love from the very first note. husband and wife group that really delivers in their live performances. the way they dive into their music and stare into each other's eyes while they bang out some serious tunes. i had the privilege to catch them when they opened Friday Cheers in downtown Richmond this summer. they are the real deal. they are playing in charlottesville on the 10th, just following the fest. i have plans to make their show after the fest. thought i'd mention it for any other locals that are looking for a good show. and even if you aren't a local, check out their album. it's good shit.

most of the people that i've introduced to shovels and rope have taken a liking to them almost immediately. seeing them live, if possible, is really the way to go. they really have an electricity between them that is indescribable. i guess i'll post a video of their most popular song in case people are just lazy:

im glad you gave them a chance and a good listen. most people that do end up liking them. i could see them being a little too country for some people, but it's very bluegrassy. idk, i just know i like them, and i do not like country. thin line between bluegrass and country. id love to see them at lockn
yes they are. i was watching the blam last night, as well. wasn't planning to head to roo this year, but there are a bunch of people there i wanna see now. i will have to cancel my mountain jam plans. jack white (im a bit obsessed with him), tedeschi, shovels and rope, cake, yonder (i think?) some others i'm forgetting. should be a good time

don't care about kenye west or lionel ritchie. elton john would be cool to see. there're several bands i'd like to see. a lot of the bands at mt jam i can see elsewhere this summer. not a big fan of the large number of people or the average age of the crowd, but i went in 2012 and had fun. i'm sure it'll still be a lot of fun.

I'll be there with you sneake. Bonnaroo has certainly strayed from its roots, and I'm not exactly over-the-moon with this year's lineup. However, I too love Jack White and there's enough on the undercard to bring me back this year.

Thank you for this suggestion, sneake. I decided to check out Shovels and Rope purely on your recommendation. Needless to say, I am really enjoying their sound. Definitely my favorite "find" of the Bonnaroo lineup thus far.

I expect to see you stomping your feet alongside me come June.

I was there for Friday Cheers!! I saw them open for Lucero a couple of years ago! Haven't missed them since! Buying the new one right now!

For people interested in shows just after Lock'n, Trampled by Turtles is playing the Jefferson on Tuesday the 9th and Trombone Shorty is playing the Jefferson (in Charlottesville) on Thursday the 11th.

went to their show last night at the jefferson in charlottesville. so fucking good, as always. i ended up really enjoying the opening act, as well. John Fullbright. i had never heard of him but liked him pretty much instantly. also managed to snag the pick he was using all night. nice litte bonus
