Lockn Football

Jabberz, have you been to Lockn before?

If you have, you'll know the sports tent is hardly a distraction. For me, music festivals are about seeing great musical performances and connecting with cool people who like the same things you do. Some people like frisbee golf, I have tried it, not a huge fan, but I know others like it. How awesome it must be to have one of your favorite activities to pursue if you decide to take a break from the music or you don't like a band that is playing. Likewise for biking trails, yoga, or whatever other things people might do at camp that I don't particularly like to do. I'm glad they can do it, and if it amplifies the interconnected (interlocking?) social fabric of a fest, I'm all for it.

Like I said, I met some cool people who liked to watch football during the brief moments I was there. It's not like a bunch of football bros bought tickets so they could watch football in a tent. It's still festival people, it's still likeminded music lovers, and I'd bet you couldn't identify one person as a sports tent/non-sports tent person unless you actually saw them in the tent. For a lot of people sports is an important part of community, and by my lights that is a perfect fit for the similarly community-oriented music festival scene. /rant
