Lemme tell y'all a little story:
Lockn 2013: TTB. Was that Saturday or Sunday? Anyways, I'm appreciating the show, when this young fellow comes along, sees my can of tobacco, and asks if he can trade me a joke for a smoke. I tell him to help himself to the can, but that's all right on the joke.
He insists.
I communicate to him, as succinctly as I can, that this is one of my favorite acts, and can I please go back to paying attention to them?And to be sure to enjoy the smoke. He's very apologetic, but doesn't go away.
So the song ends, and he's insisting on telling me this joke. Finally, I acquiesce. I don't remember what the joke was, but it was one I'd heard about a thousand times before, and I told him so. So he gets miffed and (finally) walks away. Presumably thinking, "Jeez, what a grouch."
But I gave him the damned cigarette!
MORAL: Kind and nice. They're not the same thing.
