IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE LOCKN’ ORGANIZERS: Opening of Campgrounds Delayed Until Further Notice and Thursday Performances Canceled

Earlier this evening, a severe thunderstorm with high winds passed over Lockn' and caused damage to the festival grounds, particularly the parking and campground area. The good news is that no one was injured and the entire team is focused on cleaning up and preparing for a great festival. The unfortunate news is that we will be forced to delay the opening of the campgrounds and cancel Thursday’s performances in order to give the team the time necessary to make sure the festival grounds are safe for both our guests and our artists.

Despite the inconvenience the storm has caused, we count ourselves lucky that everyone is safe and that we have three great days of music ahead of us. We look forward to seeing you soon.

i'm still picking up the RV in the morning and driving down. As a back up I just booked a campsite at James River State park.

no clue if I will end up using it yet but it seems to be real close to the farm and was only $36.

I'm with you. Sorry doobie but I want straight cheese for the measly two hours I have left with them. I wish they would better explain why this storm caused a FULL day cancellation. Ya the johns got blown over and I'm sure some vender set ups got wrecked but a full day? All they are saying is parking lot and campground damage...

Bump the rockn to lockn or start them an hour earlier, bump final sets and late nights an hour later or make blue ridge and woods sets start at the same time. That give you plenty of slots to fit in more music from thursday. All i really care about is cheese, billy and kids and little feat, i love soulive but see them a lot.

the driving path does get pretty steep at points leading back to car camping. i could only imagine what would happen if you let 10k packed full cars up and down those hills. i'm as pissed/disappointed as anyone, but i GUARANTEE YOU that Dave and Peter would only make this call if they absolutely had to. can you imagine the headache they're going to be dealing with because of this?

Probably no way to fix this to everyone's liking, but they should do what they can. I really hope they open the campgrounds tomorrow at some point.

Look on the bright asde folks. At least this didn't happen with 25000 of us onsite. Unfortunate for people enroute or in line already but we still can have three awesome days of music!! Some of the bands may be able to play later. Little Feat has gigs Friday and Saturday so they may be out for good. Anyway see you freaks on the farm!

Yeah...was thinking the same thing. Not sure how you'd start on time Fri w/ a majority of people trying to get in...bottleneck plus muddy conditions while the music plsys will piss a ton of people off.
