Agreed! Once we got in and suffered through the forest set-up, it was gravy. I totally missed everything else going on, because the music was so good I couldn't take myself away from it! Didn't even go buy my annual Christmas ornament.

(...But this is absolutely my last year getting duped into paying $200 for a 205 square foot forest spot that doesn't exist. Fool me once...)

Can you elaborate what problems with forest campsites, on behalf of a Lockn' lumni who's hoping to go in 2016? I went to the 1st Lockn in '13 but skipped the last two. It's been interesting, and pretty harrowing, to read about the issues with this year's access and field conditions due to the storm, the property damage and the power cut. But because Lockn2013 was quite hot and sunny I was considering forest camping next time around.

It was incredibly crowded. So much so that I saw folks with forest camping tags who were camping in their cars. After our 7-hour wait to get in, there was barely room for us to squeeze in a tent. 

Last year, the crowding was a problem, and Lockn' blamed it on unauthorized campers setting up in the forest area. This year, they gave us wristbands, which may or may not have remedied that situation (though I didn't see anyone checking bands). I think the issue this year was a mix of 1) early arrivals taking much, much more than their allotment of real estate, and 2) Lockn' overselling the forest passes. For instance, there was one small parking lot marked on the map for forest camping, but there ended up being quite a bit of overflow into the RV areas. Lots more cars with forest tags than room in the actual forest, imo.

I really love having a shady area to camp; it keeps the tent cool and gives me about 2-3 hours extra sleep in the morning. But it's way too much money to pay if they aren't going to assure us a camp site.

If you had great fun in '13 then you are golden. '13 and '14 were night and day. After '13, Dave and Peter invested HEAVILY in land and infrastructure. These guys are in it for the long haul. Name anything (aside from maybe the lineup) and it was vastly improved in '14. This year there were several small improvements. One of them was the addition of a closed off section near the Portos that had urinals for the guys. It got muddy and it stunk like hell, but ladies, just think how much longer the lines would have been if all the men were in your line, too.
TL;DR: If you had fun in '13, you'll cruise through '16.

Not to muddy the water or the ground for that matter....but, as my son and I were on our way into the urinal platform there was a woman ahead of us.  My son says, what's she gonna do?  I saw here pull out a tube as she stepped up to the urinal.  Cutting edge.

The troughs at the right of stage was the worst. It was like people just pissing everywhere

She-Wee. I've been considering one since my first Lockn in 2013. This year sealed that for me. I'll have one by next Lockn.

I peed on the fence the whole time. Saw two girls go into the mens area and squat on the fence, taking turns holding up a blanket to hide.
