Kick Out The Jams is one of the most potent rock statements ever. Absolutely love it and remember exactly the first time I heard it on the radio. Unreal.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band--Uncle Charlie

The Dad/Bride dance at my baby daughter's wedding next Saturday will be House at Pooh Corner--her pick but guess who played it for her 20 years ago. Listening to it brought tears. Hope I can hold up next weekend.

But the band, and the CD!--these guys IMO personify Americana, and are the best bridge at that time between the various styles that comprise it. By sticking Rocknroll (Buddy Holly), traditional, bluegrass, Southern, mountain, and mainstream rock all together, blending the instruments so EVERYONE likes it, they represent the music movement at the time while leaving a timeless kick-off still rolling today. They were young but incredibly talented, well-directed and most important, mindful of their elders.

Then they did the two "Circle" projects, and sealed it.

I wish there was some way to insure that the younger fans of contemporary Americana style like jam grass could sit down and hear an album all the way through, either Uncle Charlie or Symphonium Dreams.

Maybe this should be under "What are you watching," lol. I don't know if those who watched from home even saw this, unless it was a from-the-crowd shot where you could see the screens. The images in the oval are what we saw while the boys played. Mix matters! If you can sync this up with the soundboard version, so much the better - with the SBD it sounds like after a shaky first line they get the harmonies more or less down. With AUD it sounds like they never quite do. Anyways, get the tissues for 3:45 on...


I think my life may have peaked in 2015. Of course I thought that after FTW and then MD&E happened, but since then I have not managed to become overcome with emotion that defies description and I fear I never will be again.

So had to go back and double check this throwing stones to see if, in fact, it was what I thought it was or me just being too many sheets to the wind. It is what I thought it was. Pretty stellar. And note the second set is essentially a four song set. Stretching out Terrapin/Suite to 35 minutes could have something to do with that.

They're playing in a parking lot festival here on the Chesapeake Bay in May with some local bands. Last year it was Keller.

I like their sound, too, and they get a lot of airplay here.
