A tribute album to Elmore James is out today; it's been featured a lot on the radio. Called Strange Angels: In Flight with Elmore James,it has some great artists. Warren Haynes and Billy Gibbons team up; Keb Mo is there; Tom Jones (yes, it's not unusual for him to sing American blues, and right well at that).

a new album by Jimi Hendrix is coming out in t few weeks; I've heard some nice blues cuts from it including Mannish Boy. It's amazing what that guy could do.

I'd say there's even been a noticeable improvement in his playing between when I saw him here last summer and now. It was one of the first shows he had played without Little Joe and it was very solid, but this performance on SNL and some other recent footage I've seen were definitely a couple notches better from a musical standpoint.

His wife Morgane is expecting twins so will be out of the picture for a while, but should return. I think she adds a lot to his performances, and is a good writer and musician in her own right. I like the h/w dynamic on stage.
