Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
Agree. After what I saw happen with Phases of the Moon in 2015 (lineup down from 2014, late cancellation, refunds "pending") it's hard to commit even the discounted price without knowing the lineup. At least book a few headliners before dangling this in front of me. Please note: This forum is in no way officially associated with Lockn' Festival or its promoters.

Less than one month after concluding the 3, not 4 we all paid for, day Lockn' 2015 Festival we are given a two week window to purchase Lumni discount tickets for $100 more that last year (for VIP).
I love this festival having attended for the past 3 years through the field of broken dreams and the cancellation of Neil Young, Bob Weir and an entire day of the festival. Two (Young and Weir), perhaps three of these where beyond Frey and Shapiro's control. Lack of adequate planning directly caused the field of broken dreams and an argument can be made that better contingency and communication plans should have been in place to recover from the Wednesday afternoon weather event. I have been an avid advocate of this festival and was not one of those clamoring for a refund. I did expect some type of loyalty reward toward the purchase of 2016 tickets.
To make matters worse they have moved the purchase date up. Last year Lumni VIP tickets went on sale December 1st.
I may be in the minority here so flame away if you want, just disappointed with the price increase and the need to buy tickets so soon to get the discount.

Lockn 2016 won't disappoint me. It is a leap to buy without the lineup, but I trust them, and the trickling announcement system really pleases me. They have overcome major adversity every year. I'm in!
Edit: I'm stoked we don't have to wait for VIP this year.

"Flame"? Nah. You're not lobbing insults from the relative safety and anonymity of a guest account, so why would I do that? Also, I don't see how defending this forum from behavior that is the literal definition of a troll is flaming, but I don't wish to argue.
Anyhoo, if the past three years are any indication, if you purchase tix with the discount and then aren't satisfied with the line-up, you should have exactly zero difficulty selling them at face value.
It's my understanding that 'Roo took like 3 years to get their parking mess squared away, and Lockn' managed it by the second year (not the size of 'Roo, obv). Probably would've gone smoother this year too, if the volunteers and staff weren't suffering from a mild-to-moderate case of PTSD. That's no one's fault or Bob Weir's, depending on who you talk to.
Look, it may not be something I would realistically do, but if I dropped the kind of coin that VIP or SVIP requires, and I felt like I didn't get everything I paid for, I guess I'd be pretty upset too. The more money spent, the higher the expectations. It's only natural. But if you're spending that kind of cash, and you feel you're not getting what you paid for, why continue to spend the money? I'm not condemning here, I'm INVITING. Come and camp with us in GA. I can't speak for everyone there, but Sue and I have little or no expectations beyond the line-up, recognizing that that, too, is subject to change. We, and everyone around us, always manage to have a spectacular time. It's a personal invitation too: if you're a member of this board and you'd like to GA car camp with us, just let us know and meet us at the Food Lion beforehand. We'll start a forum compound; it'll be fun.
You need to be closer because you're getting on in years/are infirm? With the money you save, you can easily afford cart rides. Or if infirm, consider going ADA. I know some folks are sketchy about that if they're not like in a wheelchair or something, but if that's case consider the former option. And really, just how important is a flush toilet anyway? And then there's the viewing area: I guess it's cool to have a platform up close and in the middle like that, but since you can't have chairs or shade structures on that platform (and it's actually enforceable and enforced), if you are agéd/infirm, you're gonna be spending significant time in GA anyway.
SVIP...well, I dunno if I could even put a price on being practically backstage and the private performances. Lucky for me, those are things that I just don't find to be that important.
This is gonna sound like class warfare at first (so many things I say do, apparently), but it seems to me like the only people bitching are VIP and above. That's not to say though that you are getting what you paid for. Without having been there personally, I have no way of knowing, but I have no reason to doubt you, and anyway the sheer amount of complaints is enough circumstantial evidence for me. But like the old bumper sticker said:"If it ain't fun, why do it?"

Timing on this short window to purchase is really more of my issue this year. Just had some major "life bills" come due that have sucked some of my "fun" money dry. But, that's life...knowing myself (I've known myself for a little over 50 years) I'll wait until the last due the discount is available and just say what the heck and buy it.
I do find it a little upsetting that this is being offered so close to the end of the 2015 surveys...there has not been enough time to compile the results and come up with a plan regarding potential changes for 2016, so we are putting full faith into Lockn doing the right thing.
Just my 2 cents

We didn't do the 'Lumni tickets last year but bought the Christmas 2 pack. We wanted to "keep some powder dry" in case GD50 happened. Of course we ended up spending $100 more and then did Chicago too.
Do wish the payment plan was a little more spread out. Buying at Christmas last year I didn't make my last payment until July, I think. This payment plan is really compressed.
Will decide on a camping option later, I am guessing we will be GA Tent only again, but if we have friends to do a camping compound, we might consider the car camping.
