As a later generation deadhead, I was curious as to what everyones favorite post-dead project is. I never saw the grateful dead but have been going to see the guys relatively often over the past 8 or so years. My personal favorite is definitely Bill and the Kids. Of all the shows ive seen from these bands, none of them have a feel quite like Billy and the Kids does.

I have a couple different answers.
1)PLQ - First post tGD Dead I saw. 7/25/02 is still the best music I have heard from any of them.
2) Other Ones - First post tGD Dead we saw together. 11/14/02 Roanoke floors. We had been out of the scene for a long time and this was enough of a restart to get us to head to DC for the next night. That's when I knew we were back on the bus.
3) The Dead - Just because a buddy and I went up for 2 shows at Camden in 04 and that was when I first discovered Belgian beer.

Was at that Roanoke show, man what a setlist!I have a couple different answers.

Like Jeff I was out of the scene for a long time. That's until 2012? I think. Saw Furthur for New Years and started going to shows again and they rekindled my life force but BK is a really close second. Never saw O1s kinda wishing I had now (~);}

So you wouldn't include projects that don't have grateful not-yet-dead band members? Otherwise I'd put Dark Star orchestra up there.
And perhaps the continuation of Jerry Garcia Band, too? Or is that too expansive?
Do Billy & the Kids, and Phil & Friends, play under those names other than at Lockn? Or would those names include any time Bill K or Phil L perform with others as the leader?
If I recall, "The Dead" was everybody (alive at the time) so a real continuation of GD.
I'd be interested to know for those who saw some or all of the five FTW shows, and who have also seen or know a lot about the other projects, and The Dead, how FTW measured up? The comments seem to be favorable but with some disappointment.

In my opinion you would not include DSO or JGB in this list. Also Billy and The Kids and Phil and Friends both use those names outside of Lockn.So you wouldn't include projects that don't have grateful not-yet-dead band members? Otherwise I'd put Dark Star orchestra up there.

Phil & Friends has been a going concern since 2000 or so. As far as FTW I would have to say that the Chicago shows were superior to all the other Dead related projects I've seen.
