Paris?
Apparently the price for me going to Belgium with my buddies is I am taking PJ to Paris for her birthday. I could think of worse things. Anyone got some good info?

That's way down in the south of France. All the ladies love to dance.

Been there, but quickly. I did most of the standard stuff. I really liked Musee D'orsay and of course the Louvre. The catacombs were closed when we went. Favorite church is St. Michel, around the corner from Notre Dame. Most of my favorite memories in France are elsewhere. Not because Paris is bad, just didn't get as much time to do it justice and really get to know it. I took "A Moveable Feast" by Hemingway to read on the trip and was reading it when we left from the Paris train station on the way back to Lyon where we started. I am on the TGV doing 160 mph and I reached the part where Hemingway and Fitzgerald take the same route by train from Paris to Lyon. It was a cool moment, like seeing a word written at the exact same time as hearing that word in a lyric, but for a whole chapter. Also, they drank a lot. If you have never read "The Sun Also Rises", you should take it on your trip.Paris?

Cool. I think this is going to be a slow vacay. I want to do and see everything when I go somewhere. I may never get back there so if I want to see it I better do it then. Pam wants to just settle in someplace and maybe do something one day and maybe not. Tomorrow? We'll see. It may make me crazy.

Did the quick run through the Lover, wished I had a month for that. Norte Dame was my high point, a girl started singing right in the middle and the sound got me choked up in wonder and amazement.

Yes, I've been twice. Lots to do and see. Very romantic yada yada, BUT Lyon is beautiful, the food is just as good and the people are genuinely happy to have tourists. It's probably my favorite city in the world...
