Lining up overnight for the Thursday morning opening?

I've been kind of struggling with exactly what I'm doing. I know i'll be showing up early, I'm just not sure how early. I sent an email to the Va State Police asking them to give some sort of official word about what they are going to do with early birds so that I could pass it along to ya'll, but I haven't heard back yet. I may try calling tomorrow.

I have given up on the early arrival. Will be at LOCKN at 11am. Still can make the first show or chill at the RV. Not stressin over it anymore.

My plans aren't firm yet, but based on the discussion that has already occurred on this board, there are plenty of people who plan on arriving between midnight and 9am. I imagine they will have to react to prevent further traffic issues.

Tenatively, I think i'll be in line between 5am and 6am. I'll do my best to keep everyone updated.

I'm leaving NE TN. around midnight and get there around 5am and check it out. Just hafta see what happens I guess.

Does anyone know how big the tent only spaces will be?

Just be careful out there early liners. VA Staties will not tolerate anyone sitting on the shoulder (really not a shoulder anyhow). 29 is a main central va road, lots of people commute to work in charlottesville and lots tractor trailers. There are a lot of back roads, which would be much safer to sit on if that is your only option. Good luck and safe travels

I hope to get in line at 3-330 PM Thursday. Thats the earliest I can make it and I cannot be stressed over what campground they stick me in. Its all gonna be ok, i keep telling myself. I will not be at work, I will not be hospitalized, I will be having a great time no matter where I camp.

I just received an email from Lockn which says: "Only a week until the first LOCKN' Festival! Here is some information to make your journey easier. We ask that you arrive on Thursday morning. Tollbooths will open promptly at 9:00 AM. Lovingston is a very small town, the residents have been very welcoming as we have worked to prepare for this event, and we do not want to have a large crowd arriving in the middle of the night Wednesday. Plan your trip to arrive Thursday, music will start at 4:00 PM with Keller Williams and The Keels (Larry Keel), and you will have PLENTY of time to set up and get familiar with the Festival site."

My guess is at some point, police are going to be turning folks around who arrive during "off" hours.

IF for some reason we do get there too early and they turn people away and don't give us a place to go. There is a wayside rest stop 7 miles north of lovingston on 29. No addresses just head north on 29 and lookout. It's open 24hrs! Primitive, no facilities.
