Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
These are businesses, not charities. DB saw an opportunity to get into the music event business directly (like Starr Hill down the road did long ago) and use its existing facilities. if too many festivals in the area dilute the market, they will all learn. I think one thing we are seeing is that the Nelson County area is positioned around a lot of large festival-going markets, especially with the college students--maybe 100,000 within a 2 hour drive? Please note: This forum is in no way officially associated with Lockn' Festival or its promoters.

Devils Backbone Hoopla festival goers can camp out, enjoy workshops, and outdoor activities alongside an incredible lineup of live music, award-winning craft beer, and great eats. Tucked away in the valley of Nelson County on 100 acres surrounded by Blue Ridge Mountains, Basecamp Brewpub & Meadows provides a picturesque backdrop for the four-day event.
Experiencing new music at Hoopla will give listeners the same sense of discovery that comes with trying a new beer. The featured bands are a sweet mix of bluegrass, Americana, alt-country, and rock from national touring acts, as well as some of the region’s up and coming live bands. Bands rounding out the bill include:
Thursday:
Trongone Band
A sound that falls perfectly between southern rock ‘n soul and Americana jam.
Adrian Duke Project
A seven-piece band covering a vast repertoire of music ranging from The Beatles and Van Morrison to Marvin Gaye and Ray Charles.
Jeremiah Tall
A one-man show with a spin on folk rock.
Friday:
Old 97’s
Dallas’ own alt-country act.
Futurebirds
High energy, psychedelic country from Athens, Georgia.
Holy Ghost Tent Revival
Horn-driven rock and roll, with a hint of blues, folk, and soul.
SUSTO
Progressive country-rock inspired by a Latin American syndrome that translates to “panic attack.”
Saturday:
The Revivalists
Roots-driven rock out of New Orleans.
Dylan Leblanc
An Americana singer-songwriter with roots in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
Major & The Monbacks
Reminiscent of retro 60’s rock ‘n roll, with psychedelic twang, soaring three-part harmonies, and the horn laden grit of southern soul.
Gold Top County Ramblers
Acoustic bluegrass inspired string rock.
Bryan Elijah Smith & The Wild Hearts
Alternative Americana with a powerful sound.
And introducing Rainbow Kitten Surprise
Unique indie-pop hailing from Boone, NC.
The Hoopla Adventures will be activities, events and workshops that celebrate the seven amazing values that make up the Devils Backbone culture: Beer Positive, Passion, Adventure, Family, Humility, Integrity, and Stewardship. The complete Hoopla Adventure schedule will be announced in April.

And Major and the Monbacks is a Norfolk-based band that started with college students and now that many have graduated, continues on. Great sound. What impressed me about them was seeing a bunch of 18 year old guys just nail Bill Wither's "Use Me." (Someone did it at Lockn last year; was it Trombone Shorty?)
