I like the car camping. It's nice to have your car right to keep things locked up in, plus I pack heavy with lots of extra stuff. I always come across someone who needs a extra pc of something or some tool to fix something. Welcome to the forum.

The answer to this depends on who you ask. It's a really individualized decision. If you ask me, car camping is better because you don't have to haul anything and you can lock stuff up in your car. If you ask southernman tent only is better because it's a bit closer to the stages and it's easier to meet up with other campers. Only you can know for sure. But it definitely sounds like you want car camping enough that you made the switch. You must have your reasons for that.

I also like that you charge your phone and hide your stash in a locked car.

Also, there were more choices of level sites to pitch the tent, or seemed to be, than in car camping.
