Am I the only one thinking how bad an idea this is? I've been going to MPP for years now and just recently started hating it. PITA to get to, in, and out...overzealous security there...tons of colleges all around.....
I just think a 2 day fest with no camping options is going to be trouble there.

Merriweather is a pain to get in and out of. We used to always park across the street at Columbia Mall back in the day. Now we park at public lots outside the venue grounds and hoof it.
I boycotted the place in the late eighties due to strict enforcement of the local noise ordinance at Metal shows of all things, and tailgaters have seen their share of police state behavior.
9:30 Club owner Seth Hurwitz bought the place. Result was better sound, Rock and roll pinball machines, the 9:32 Club bar, some landscaping for a better lawn view etc.
And now Marijuana is decriminalized in MD!
Agreed that admission is expensive, especially when considering the $199 Lockn earlybird. Also the heat/ humidity in the DC area in July can be brutal, especially for those with Lawn tickets.
I like the day one lineup although I wouldn't expect many to travel too far to attend.
Also agree that security in the Pavilion itself can be overzealous, Hitler youth probably best describes it with a few I've been scolded by. One must be stealthy or go to the lawn. It's a long day for security though and I hope that maybe they mellow out a bit.

Talked to a friend today going to a hair fest at Merriweather and said that they also had went to the revolving stage.
