I am thrilled about Wednesday entry!!! Have asked for this every year. And hopefully since the VIP corral in the middle is gone there will be no more whining about that...

I'm feeling a Phil and Friends with Weir as one of the phriends and maybe another Weir led band of some sorts. With all of the show closer slots spoken for already and music not starting until duskish on Thurs. that certainly reduces the predicted number of open slots.
Was glad to see the forum represented on the chat today.

Way to go!! He said no to ratdog right? As much as I've whined about the line up and the "feel" of this year I think it's really cool that Frey did this. he answered what seemed like the majority of the questions and he seemed very candid and honest. There were few if any bureaucratic fluff answers and he didn't try to dodge too many questions. Very dissapointed about no panic (maybe they'll do Peach?
) and cheese but it seems like this is due to circumstances out of Lockn's control. I agree with TOO that a Phil and Phriends with Weir and Trey seems likely, although I'll still stick by the crockpot "life after dead" idea I posted in the other thread. If it is Phil and Phriends what do we all think Saturday and Sunday? Who fills out the rest of the band?

Gut feeling or insider info? I know they've said the project is done and Furthur alone likely doesn't have the "WOW" factor to justify a reunion but a guy can dream can't he? Frey basically confirmed a Dead act and keeps saying "people are going to freak out". I don't think your standard Phil Cap line up (even with Trey on guitar) is a "freak out" but "The return of Furthur featuring Phil Lesh and Bob Weir with special guest Trey" is a freak out. ZeroAnybody think Further is a possibility???

Honestly, that is my feeling. It is a potential "wow" that I think is practically achievable and not ruled out by anything he said.
I was also intrigued by the Clapton idea he talked about (but not for this year).

I think the late start time on Thursday is merely a cost-cutting effort. I'd prefer undercards starting around 1-2, even if you are hearing them while setting up.
But if it's not money this could have to do with opening logistics especially dealing with the county, LEO and residents. Friday morning L3 was insane, although you had two days' worth arriving at once and all anxious to get started. This may calm many of the entrances and the early crush that the roads can't hold.
Never mind that one of the biggest entry failures was CID not having enough ticket scanners at the RV entrance, shutting down at least 5 miles of one entry road until 9:00 am. I was there.
