But if it's not money this could have to do with opening logistics especially dealing with the county, LEO and residents. Friday morning L3 was insane, although you had two days' worth arriving at once and all anxious to get started. This may calm many of the entrances and the early crush that the roads can't hold.
Never mind that one of the biggest entry failures was CID not having enough ticket scanners at the RV entrance, shutting down at least 5 miles of one entry road until 9:00 am. I was there.
So, I'm a glass-half full kind of guy. I'm hoping for music still starting at 4ish, and would welcome even earlier.
I'm excited for the Wednesday entrance. It will either be us entering or it will limit the early crush on Thursday morning because other people utilize it, so win-win for me.
They said they were working on permanent road enhancements with VDOT but they wouldn't be ready this year.
Friday L3 was insane but honestly L2 load-in was pretty good.
Yes, the lack of personnel at L3 was a large problem, but that is because they cancelled Thursday and couldn't get everybody back on board for Friday.

It's not paranoia if they really are out to get you.

I was also intrigued by the Clapton idea he talked about (but not for this year).
If not Furthur I predict some collection of at least 2 Dead members and Trey

I am assuming Kadlecik will be playing with Grateful Gospel. I am not sure there are "full-time" members as I think it is a pickup ensemble but he's played with them both times at Lockn. He did no-comment Phil, he said no to Ratdog, but I am not sure he said no to Bob specifically

Would Gilmour be a WOW announcement? probably for me
I'd be thrilled with Fleetwood Mac, another one he didn't rule out, but I don't know if it would be a WOW for me. Maybe mostly because I've been saying they would be a good fit for a couple years.
I just picked up on the Further thing because I was trying to speculate on some sort of Phil annoucement that would be a WOW. Just another Phil lineup, I don't think that would do it for me or the crowd at large.

I'm a head from way back but I was off the bus for a long time. So I totally missed Further. So it would be special to me too, because I didn't get to see them at all.
Phil and Phriends would be a cool Phil lineup, but I'm like you, it would not be a WOW for me. Further would be a WOW.

Was that the latenight Mule set at AllGood that got a late start because of some tech difficulty? If, so I was there too and it went LATE.
What happens if I take both?

"At the time of the webcast we had MMJ penned in as the Saturday closer but once we were able to book Phurthur we felt it was right to have them close the main stage, we're very grateful to have such a great rapport with the artists that we can make these types of changes on the fly"-Dave Frey July 16th 2016 (or something like that). Even if MMJ is the Saturday closer I think Phurthur fits right before them.
As for Warren I agree, September 2015 Mule was in the midst of a West Coast tour and right after a Saturday show he flew to NY for the Sunday Forest Hills Phil Q show. Thats basically a 15 hour turn around from when one show ended and the next began with a 6 hour flight in between.

Honestly Further being on 9 or so and MMJ going on after seems perfectly appropriate to me.

Agreed, particularly since the main late night act that night is more Dead music in JRAD.
