Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
Having done all 3 levels, VIP is the sweet spot to me. Now if I could afford to do SVIP every year, I would because being up front and the private late night shows are awesome. But I can get to the rail in VIP when I want (and that is 1 person further back than SVIP) so I just can't justify the late night shows for the extra $$. They also feed you lunch and dinner in SVIP pretty much every day (as opposed to the welcome BBQ and Sunday brunch in VIP), but I'm a fucking good cook (having parents that ran a restaurant for 30+ years will do that to a guy) and don't mind working the chuck wagon for our crew. Now if I were to win the lottery, it would be SVIP all the time, until then, VIP will suffice for this single parent working stiff. fucking good cook I am. Got to get the flag with my avatar made before. Swing by for an All Day IPA (my festival beer of choice) and a bite (I'm Greek, so while there's 4 in our crew, I cook for at least double that - that's just how I roll). Just got a new grill to use too. My old one finally gave out. New Coleman Roadtrip. No more table top. Last year, I made pork chops with a bacon molasses rub, forbidden rice (it's black to purple), and broccoli and cheese for dinner one night. My buddy was on the phone with his wife when dinner was on and told her what we were having and she told him it was better than what she cooked. The year we did SVIP, the only Sunday dinner wasn't provided, so I made a shrimp, scallops, calamari, clams, and cod stew with heirloom tomatoes over jasmine rice. My same buddies two grown kids raided our leftovers. If you eat crap, you'll feel like crap. I've done VIP car camping the last two lockn's and really enjoyed it. The people camping around me were great; everyone is your new best friend. People were social but not annoying especially at night or early morning. At 40 you are in the right age bracket--and you certainly won't be the oldest. Overall Lockn' is an older crowd than Bonnaroo--although Phish may shift it somewhat. Being up on a hill with a view and a breeze is also a great perk. The lay-out in connection with the rest of the fest, including going to the stage area, was better in L2 than L3. Who knows what this year will bring. At L3 they sold way more VIP's and were actually oversold for camping spaces, so it got a little tight, esp. compared to the wide open spaces at L2. At L2 there were constant problems with the VIP showers and bathrooms. At L3 they were essentially inoperable the whole time. Total disaster and no one in charge, no one to call. So prepare to be flexible, tolerant and resourceful in that regard. I blame it on CID, who manages that aspect of the fest, I believe. A truck rides around selling bags of ice and there is also a stationary ice station, open most of the day, where you camp, also a food truck w/ coffee.. Switch GA to VIP

This will be my first lockn..bought my GA car camping tix and now am wishing that I would have just shelled out the extra money for
VIP instead...especially since this a celebration for my 40th birthday. Does anyone know if there is an upgrade option at this point if they aren't sold out? Any advice/suggestions would be awesome. Thanks in advance!!!

Had a great time doing solo VIP car camping last year and saw no reason not to do it again. Stage access was key for me and the close walk allowed some key downtime to rest my boogie weary knees.

so word of caution: VIP might mean an easy walk, but it's no guarantee for all that extra money.

For Interlocken #1 we were the first five people to show up and were parked 20 feet from the gate!
endless summer is correct, there is no guarantee for the extra money.
