This is my first major festival but have been to a few littler ones. I think I am riding solo any advice for a first timer from what to expect to what to bring. Also how early does this festival normally sell out I'm hoping to get my ticket in the next few weeks

Hello and Welcome! There are a number of good threads on here to check out. Start with the Ultimate Camping Checklist. It has some great info. Lockn is a bigger festival, but it has a small festival feel if that makes sense. People are kind and our neighbors went out of their way to get to know us... To my knowledge, this festival has not sold out in the past. Have fun searching our site!

GA-RV has sold out in the past; VIP car camping was very full. GA has not sold out. Cant' say about some of the other specialty camping.

Originally heading in solo but a few possible aquantances showing some interest. They may or may not be potentially herbalists which I don't have a problem with but as for myself I have a job which does not afford me a choice in the matter. So was just reading about past years traffic & K9 & busts & such were part of the articles.Should I reconcider making traveling plans with them. It sucks I even need to worry about such things in this day & age.. Thanks new fam..

Don't know what you were reading but you have zero worries. You pretty much have to be the unluckiest person in the world or a moron to have problems. Probably both. I have yet to see any rigorous enforcement or searches and certainly not any K9 action. Maybe there was but not that I or anyone else that I know saw. There is always someone selling the story about this guy they heard of that got totally railroastrand there were K9 dogs flying drones and shot but that is about all.

Make sure that all of the lights work on your vehicle, your tags and inspection are current, you obey the traffic laws and treat the LEOs with kindness and respect and you will not have a problem. Same applies for every other day of your life...

BTW, a few years ago at Roo a policeman looked in a car and asked if anyone had marijuana. One earnest young person said yessir, I have a medical prescription for it from my home state and here is my meds.
Busted, cuz TN does not recognize medical marijuana.

The article said that "any marijuana offenses involved between one-half ounce and five pounds of what was believed to be marijuana." So unless they are bringing a large amount they should be fine. Also just have it wrapped up and put deep inside a travel bag and shouldn't be a problem. All they have done to me in three years is look to make sure our beer wasn't in bottles and poke around the back a little bit - probably looking for tanks.
- I have also yet to meet a security check person willing to unload and reload an overstuffed car that almost falls out when they open the back.

So apparently a guest can start a new thread but a new registered member has to have 25 posts to start a new thread? Need to look at those settings. I'm not convinced that we need to enforce the 25 post limit myself.

For some reason, the setting is different in the Questions, Advice, Etc area. I notice that under this section it says that I (a registered member, still with under 25 posts) can start a new thread, but all the other sections it says I cannot.So apparently a guest can start a new thread but a new registered member has to have 25 posts to start a new thread? Need to look at those settings. I'm not convinced that we need to enforce the 25 post limit myself.

There are dogs. Seen 'em with my own eyes. They're pretty completely overwhelmed, though. They probably use them as back up when probable cause is questionable.

I guess Dylan wants people to still be able to ask questions. That's reasonable.

At least two of my friends who have attended every year also have jobs that require clean living. Once you're on campus it shouldn't be an issue unless you are a moron.
Like the guy who answered the cop's question at 'roo: Moron.
As for en route, just like real life everywhere. You have to do a risk/benefits analysis about riding with people who are holding.
And before the discussion goes off on a tangent, this forum has been good about sticking to a policy of not printing how a person can break the rules. Sufficient information is in the posts describing the search and enforcement in practice.

We've also been pretty good at not discussing politics, but on this issue I think we can all agree. It's long past time we made a stand.
Laws criminalizing the recreational use of cannabis by adults are stupid and wrong. Furthermore, since they are designed to protect self and not other people, it is our patriotic duty...nay, our moral imperative to break them.
That said, the law is still the law, and rules are still rules, so you have to be prepared for consequences.

Thank you everyone, I did not mean too get on the fringe of breaking any rules of the forum definitely not my intention. This is going to be my first vacation in many years & was not quite sure what the road to lockn was paved with. Been to fests & shows up north that were chill years ago, but yesterday I was looking into routes to take & past years traffic stories & saw some articles that brought up some questions in my mind. One in particular was about an ABC agent whom was on a mission, the Nelson county sherrifs office testified in a hearing he was like a Gestapo Storm Trooper during the 2014 festy. They were trying to pull the shows liquor licence. Just got my wheels turning, You all have been the best here in this here forum & not just to me I see in every thread I have seen here such a great vibe I can not thank you all enough. Can not wait to see you all there...

And I look at the med side of it. To deprive us of something that can save your life is,is,is, I can't come up with a word for it. I'm very thankful for my friend in Michigan & all the new friends I've made going up there every other week. After I have my next chemo treatment next week they are going to have me have a scan to see where we are. I'll have about 50 doses by then so well find out if it's working. I hope this works not only for me but I have a lot of people watching with hope in their eyes that this will work. A lot of people out there with cancer.
