Forest Camping West was one of the two wooded-area campgrounds: we arrived a day late but nabbed a good parking spot so we never saw the other Forest option. Which is too bad.
Pleasant-most surprise was that neighbors were less noisy at night than our experience during L1 in Tent camping; but we found this year that with Forest West, we traded quieter accommodations for grueling exertion at times. Access to anything but the first/immediate shaded camp spots involves a physical workout.
As a general FYI for future campers whether for Lockn's down the road, or also Festy 2016 and beyond whereby Oak Ridge will offer shaded camping: Forest West is STEEP. Nice shade but humidity gets trapped in spots like ours was: back out of the woods you could feel a difference in air flowing again, although the hot sun quickly grew hot of course. Some parts of the access trail through the site were steep-grade enough that walking back downhill them was the kind of steep where you have to sort-of start jogging because of the gravity pulling you down?
Imagine this while carrying all your gear back & forth to set up/ break down camp, or just to use the nearest port-o-potty overnight out by parking. My boyfriend estimated we were camped a 1/4 mile's path from Forest entrance but I think it was between 1/4 and 1/8, after I counted about 250 steps taken in one direction; plus we weren't even the farthest-removed from entrance either. Mostly surrounded by younger camp neighbors (we're in our 40s) but I'm guessing that's b/c anyone older or less fit would've maybe checked out Forest "Original" location. It's farther from main Stage and we never ventured over to see it, but I bet it's not nearly as hilly.
Forest Camp hill-slopes nearly killed us. Would Not Buy Again.
Good thing we have 364 days to agonize about where to camp.
