Thank you all for your well wishes. One of the best people I've ever known, my sister, Kirsten, passed last night at 10:15. She fought against Leukemia for over a year. The fucked up part about cancer is that the cancer isn't always what does you in, it's the immune system repression that allows horrible infections to invade your body. In fighting infections, the cancer spread exponentially over a matter of hours. You can spend days at the bedside of a loved one, knowing what is going to happen, and yet be totally unprepared when it does happen. I ask that you continue to send positive thoughts to her two young children and her husband, who now must begin a new life. If you all really want to help me, celebrate the lives of those you love. It sounds cliche, but appreciate the time you have with your friends and family. Honor me and my beloved sister by telling those close to you how much you love them. It is a truly sad fact of life that so many of us do not understand how precious our days are until those days come to an end.
