Hey everyone! As I'm sure you are waiting for this "end of June" announcement like myself, I was wondering what ticket sales are like this year compared to past years. Has anyone heard of what sales are like this year? I've heard rumors of both less than last year and double last years...

Only thing I have to base sales on is how many Wintergreen packages have sold out. So far only one package has sold out. It seems like in the past most of these were gone by now but I could be mistaken. It happened once before.Hey everyone! My guess is that Tickets Today is doing some steady business, but CID is crickets. Skewing younger may sell more tix overall, but rare is the student loan holder who can afford VIP/SVIP.

My guess is that Tickets Today is doing some steady business, but CID is crickets. Skewing younger may sell more tix overall, but rare is the student loan holder who can afford VIP/SVIP.

just projecting my perspective, I think a lot of VIP's as well as older GA's will wait to buy unless there is a real threat of a sell-out of a certain ticket level (like GA-RV). The early-bird discount is not significant enough to them, and they may have more risk of last-minute conflicts. So they keep their money as long as they can.
But I think those who would want a Wintergreen package would buy them early, since they are limited, and an obvious alternative for a patron with money who wants to retreat from the mob and also sleep in comfort (I don't mean this critically).

The fact that the first thing you see when visiting the official site is a card that's essentially the same as the flyer (Dead-related stuff only) to me smacks of desperation. Just sayin'.

There were lots of tickets for early-bird prices last year too. People buy early then figure out they can't go. Unless there are real numbers, it doesn't mean anything.
Anyway, I stick w/ my stance of Never trust a promoter to tell you how many tickets were sold. About as reliable as number of records, where there were always lots when it came to publicity but suddenly multitudes fewer when it came time to pay the artists. This business is shady as fuck.

A few points I will make....
Whatever the sales numbers, sales will pick up moving forward for two reasons: One is the addition of Phil and Friends to the lineup, and the other will happen after Phish gets done with the current leg of tour later in July. Granted, the Dick's Colorado run will also get some of that action when Phish gets done with the current leg, but there are usually a number of late buyers after the mid-summer tour gets done. Those who enjoyed the summer tour will want more - both Magnaball and Dick's ended up selling out once the mid-summer tour was over.
No surprise if it's true that the CID end of things are soft. There seems an even bigger proportion of VIP tix on COT than even the GA. At a grand a pop, no shock that sales might be slower on that end.

Secondary market is an indicator, for sure. And the prices jumped up a lot before the line-up rolled out--tactical error?
And since these things don't sell out (do they?) I can't see a reason ever to buy early; it's not like you get a better seat.

I also noticed that GA tickets are still selling at Tier 1 pricing. Haven't seen any mention of a price increase. Wonder if that will happen. Maybe when they announce (if) the sale of single day tickets.
