So I used to take something called Arthrosoothe that I bought at my chiropractor's office for my arthritis (helps with inflammation). It was pretty expensive ($40 a bottle), and the main ingredient was niacin. So I decided to cut out the middle man and take straight niacin (100mg). I read up on it beforehand and anticipated a little flush effect that seemed minor.
Well, it turns out niacin and I do not mix. Ended up in the ER from a niacin overdose/allergic reaction. I passed out on the toilet within ten minutes of taking it, after my body decided it needed to get out of my system by any means necessary. I went into shock, passed out, fell over onto the hard floor, husband found me and called 911. I came to surrounded by EMTs. My body was on fire, I was shivering, sweating, had the worst abdominal cramps, and couldn't stop throwing up. I was in some sort of hallucinogenic state where even the presence of someone in the room caused me to panic. I was literally crying out in pain so badly, that the nurses had to give me a morphine drip (for reference- I've given birth naturally twice; I can handle pain).
Then, after 90 minutes, I was suddenly fine. Weak from the ordeal of course, but I was back to normal. It was like a hurricane swept through my body and mind, and dissipated as quickly as it came.
Today I'm fine, a bit weak and sore from where I landed on my head and shoulder, but I will survive to march on.
So take caution- niacin is an ugly little beast.

That sounds awful. The worst side effect I ever got from Niacin was it made me all gassy. Drove me nuts! Had to find a something different - - it had been recommended for controlling cholesterol.
Did this just happen last week or last whenever? it was hard to make out timeframe, whether this was a "once upon a time" anecdote or whether as we draw closer to awesome Lockn-times everyone's being extra precautious not to get sick, infirmities or injuries that would sideline us from having the fullest experience! Well either way: Warning is now Noted!

Apparently the more you take it, the more your body adapts and the symptoms stop. I will never be taking it ever again. Scariest thing ever.

I learned that I'm much happier with making 5 salads on Sunday than one every day all week. Just dump it into a bowl, and enjoy. Quart jar is perfect for a meal-sized salad. Pint jar for a side salad.

Ha! Thanks!
Under normal circumstances my husband would have been tinkering in the garage, and who knows where I'd be right now if he hadn't heard me fall.

It was a normal bottle, 100mg.
Yeah, I was kind of surprised when the Dr. said I had a textbook OD. They didn't believe that I hadn't taken anything else until my labs came back clean. They kept saying "sweetie, it's okay if you took something, just let us know what it was so we can treat you accordingly". They thought I was lying. Too bad for them I've been cleansing and was clean as whistle! LOL

1. I bought a ticket for cheaper this year than last year. If you are concerned about price increases, buy the Lumni ticket. I paid $200. If you decide you don't like the lineup, you can sell it for easily $250. If price is your concern, festivals may not be your bag.
2. No one deserves reparations for what happened last year. It was mother nature, Lockn didn't cause the fuck up. This is just another instance of people expecting something coming to them when they had no right to it.
3. I love Cheese and Panic and their coloaborative sets, but just because they aren't there doesn't make or break the fest. This is a wide open fest with a lot of influences, and a lot of great bands every year, including this one. Taste is subjective, but this is objectively a very good lineup, and still has some of the staples, TTB, Phil, Umphreys plus others who have been there before in different capacities (Chris Robinson, Russo, Gary Clark).
4. Ween is absolutely a headliner. You either get that or you don't, I'm not going to argue over this because some people just don't get it.
5. Agree that the music starting late on Thursday is a little bit of a bummer, but they did it so less music will be missed, and I respect that. Still wish they'd have one more band on Thursday though.
6. Date change doesn't affect me, I understand how it would affect others, but I firmly believe it was done so that Phish could play, and that it will go back to September next year.

2) Lockn promoters were reimbursed by their insurance carriers so they got theirs and we got a day less.
3) I love Cheese and WSP too and I'm disappointed they won't be here, ween is NOT an adequate replacement.
4) Wrong, ween may be headline material, but not Interlocken headline material. Therefore disappointed.
5) I've never had a problem seeing EVERY BAND I want to, because I get to the show on time.
6) phish has NOTHING to do with date change, as I said I completely understand their reasoning (logistics) however, if you don't think it would be a few degrees cooler in late Sept. or early Oct. then you just don't understand how the seasons work.

2. Lockn is insured for reasons just like they experienced, not to pass along savings to the customer. Do you have and idea the amount of money they probably had to sink last year just to make the festival workable for 3 days? THAT is why they are insured. Every ticket is a contract. No refunds, rain or shine. You buy a ticket, you forfeit your right to sue for something just like you're talking about.
3. Ween is an adequate replacement. Whether you want to believe that or not is fine, but it's just your opinion, just like it's mine.
4. What exactly is Lockn headline material? Panic is great, but they aren't exactly "headline" material either. Robert Plant and SS? Great classic rock, not jam though. They don't a collaboration this year that is headline worth, so would you rather them force something together just for the sake of being a unique set? Assume SCI did make it, and Ween wasn't there, is J. Geils Incident really headline material?
5. Again, lines. When has the entry to Lockn been easy and straightforward? Say 25% of the attendees are from within 200 miles or so. If I was that close I'd consider only taking a half day on Thursday. Oh well, I'll miss some lesser bands day 1, no biggie. But, like you mention, Lockn is all about not missing any music you didn't want to, so Lockn is just making sure as many people can be in and set up and ready to come to the first set of music. They mentioned how they liked how a lot of people tried to make it to the Doobie Incident despite all the rain, they just are trying to continue that.
6. I never said I didn't think it would make a difference in the temperature, so I don't know what your point is.

5. Entry to Lockn has been easy and straightforward every year for us. I can share my plan if you like, just ask. I'm not happy about a short day Thursday just so everyone can get in. They just need to leave earlier. If they can't sorry maybe getting to festivals on time is not their thing...

2. Yeah.
3. I'm not saying WSP isn't a headliner. I guess that's exactly what I said, but what I meant is there is no real qualification to be a Lockn Headliner. There's a lot of difference between acts over the years. The only the constant is it's rock music.
5. You've been lucky. My friend had to park in the line first year. Second year was relatively smooth. Last year we were in line at 5am, and didn't move until 8 or 9. Maybe later. Just because you've been lucky doesn't mean it hasn't been an issue. And like I've said, I'd like another band on Thursday, but I understand why Lockn has done what they've done and you can't really begrudge them for it.
