Long Time Lurker (well since I bought tickets) First time poster. Lots of great info on here. I know most of you are staying on site, my group is staying and commuting from Wintergreen. Anyone have any intell if its okay to tailgate in the Day lot? I know there's lots of options inside, but it will be nice to head out to the car during an act that we aren't into and grab sub grub and a beer. thanks in advance. make sure you bring some cups. a lot of times they won't bother you if you have it in a solo cup, less tolerant straight from the can

thanks for the responses. Yes always "solo" cups. Im not sure why the hell that matters, but it does seem to keep "the heat" from bothering you.
Plus not acting like an asshat, also keeps you out of trouble.

Because for the most part they really don't want to hassle you. If you are drinking out of a solo cup then who knows, you could be drinking water or ice tea or apricot nectar or just about anything. Plausible deniability. "I thought he was drinking water." But if you are holding a bottle or can and there is any kind of open container ordinance then they are somewhat obligated to intervene.

You definitely don't want to stand beside the car you plan to drive to Wintergreen in later with an open container. Seems like it's not your first rodeo and you got that covered. I think Jeff is right. They don't want to hassle anyone unnecessarily.

It'll be nice to have a place to go out and grab a bite to eat and a beer, similar to an onsite camping spot. We may find that after being there its too much hassle...

Great food and beer inside.
Lots of local constabulary in the vicinity of the gates.
Music inside.
Hot cars outside.
The few dollars you save at the car you've already spent on your ticket, for bands you are not hearing or seeing.

I will be camping in GA car camping, and have a friend that will be staying off site, but parking in the day lot each day. Will he be able to come to my camp to hang out before the shows or at any point in the day?

yes, GA is wide open for everyone; it facilitates drawing from the bearer pen.
VIP/SVIP camping areas have some access restrictions, but they are usually OK with a VIP walking in with one or two friends. Often the gates are unmanned, too.
