First time poster here and first Lockn experience! For those who have driven in before, is it possible to come in from the east on James River Rd and hit Oak Ridge Rd on the opposite side of the grounds? Or would they just make you go to Rt 29 and join the rest of the line to get in.

That is the rv entrance and does not gain you any advantage and quite possibly will get you turned around and sent back to the front gate in you aren't in an rv.

but I don't see why you can't come from that direction and join in, unless they make that road one way, the wrong way, for the residents to get out while we block the other roads.

I know last year when we turned onto RT56 which is a two lane road, we didn't go very far before peeps were stopped in their RV's, wating in line to gain entrance. There were a few service vehicles going in the opposite direction away from the entrance, but not many. I had my B-I-L in front of us, and my BFF in his 5th wheel behind us. I took a quick shower at about 4:30am, and within minutes of getting dressed, there were other RV's driving in the left hand lane attempting to reach the front of the line. My B-I-L wasn't having any of that, and moved his rig over to the left lane. I moved up a bit, and my BFF blocked the entire road with his 5th wheel. Not sure if that's gonna happen this year, but the moral of the story is, you need to get on RT56 off of Bidniz 29, which is directly across the street from the light @ the Food Lion. I'm GA RV, SVIP & VIP have their own entrance. I spend all my extra dough buying family members tkts, so I can't partake in the the VIP or SVIP thing. Maybe one day, but not this year. I don't think tryna come in any other way would be advisable.

I haven't even BEGUN thinking the best way to get there from C-Ville. So if I'm entering at the RV/VIP entrance (where ADA is supposed to enter), I should take..... Route 29?? Help! LOL Horrible with directions... But someone said they will send directions, correct?

You guys get your own entrance. They send all of the GA RV's to the backside (SE side) of the farm. We have to weasel our way around N first, then take 653 off of RT 56.
Google Map "Nelson United Methodist Church, Arrington VA", then switch to satellite view.
Nelson UMC is on the N side of RT29. Tye River Elementary is on the S side of RT29.
From NUMC heading N on RT29 @ 1/4 mile, you will see RT653. You guys will take a right onto 653, and head towards Trinity Episcopal Church. Your entrance will be somewhere on your right off of 653, and it will clearly be marked. All VIP & SVIP, including artists enter off of that road. You will be camped on the NW side of the race track. We won't be far from you once settled.
Us peons have to go up to the Food Lion and head E, then S to enter thru gate 7.
ADA is some choice camping spots. You really won't HAVE to enter the show field. You will def hear ALL of the music, all of the time. If they park you close to the fence along the track, all you need is to climb onto your roof and a good set of binoculars. You don't have to trek onto the show field unless you want to get close. You might as well be on the boardwalk at the beach if you get close to the fence line on the track. You can people watch all day, and jam your azz off too!
Safe trip down to the two of you. Looking fwd to shaking your hand and sharing some laughter!

I was hoping to have Scotty beam us and the RV right into the venue (it worked with the whales lassie), but the damn dilithium crystals are on the fritz again.

Hey Doc,
In the same boat. I am coming from the S (Raleigh) and my BFF will be following us. My B-I-L is coming from Crofton, MD. We agreed that Nelson United Methodist Church would be an ideal location to meet up so we can all go in together. Seeing as how it will be a Wednesday, I can't imagine their parking lot being that full. There is nothing listed on their calendar for that day. It's a good sized parking lot too.
I think Food Lion had enough "issues" with Lockn last year, to where they are probably not going to allow RV's to even come into their parking lot this year. IDK, I may be wrong, but we all got chased outta there by the fuzz right after they opened. They had a 'tude too. I remember the mgr showing up with this flabbergasted look on his face. It was hilarious actually. He could BARELY find a place to park, as the lot was chock full of RV's.
I think you would be good-2-go if you chose NUMC as a meet-up place.
