This is my first year at LOCKN, and I have seen people mention that they enforce a "no vending" policy.
Is this mostly for alcohol?
Are there going to be pins or posters available in the parking lots, or just from vendors who have paid for a spot on shakedown?

You'll be able to find stuff. But we saw a dude selling tee shirts get his inventory confiscated. Fortunately it was after my wife bought hers.This is my first year at LOCKN, and I have seen people mention that they enforce a "no vending" policy.

Every year I have seen people selling posters, t-shirts, and other random wares (I picked up a coaster last year), in the campgrounds. I've never seen anyone get in trouble, but I'm sure it could happen.
If you're talking about setting up along a main thoroughfare and trying to sell, I'd think that would get you in trouble, or at least a "move along." I did see a guy that every night brought a canvas, paint, and easel into the show field last year and paint during the shows, but no idea if he had special permission or anything, so I'd say your mileage may vary there. And he wasn't advertising to sell or anything.

Enforcement is pretty random. I've seen people get inventory confiscated, but also large amount of vendors selling inside the venues with no problems.

If you are selling art and don't want it confiscated, carry only one piece with you and keep the rest stashed somewhere safe. If an eager customer asks to see more of your art, do not take them back to your stash. This is likely someone hired by the promoters to confiscate goods from non-licensed retailers.

THIS is exactly what I came up with!
I'm carrying only 2 posters and a couple pins. If I sell those, I will go get more-
Worst case, I lose $100-150, which is bad enough.
Not a couple thousand!

If you have thousands of dollars in merch have you considered just selling it legitimately. I would imagine that the window of opportunity has passed, but if you have that much this option would make the most sense to me.
