Lurked through this community for a couple years to get information from time-to-time. Finally joined the conversation this spring as the need for speculation exceeded previous Lockn' announcement patterns.
What I found was much more than people just swapping wild conjecture, enabling anxiety disorders, educated guesses, pretend inside information, and music snobbery (although lots of those things too). There are a bunch of folks here who genuinely want to encourage people in positive ways and help answer questions solely because it may enhance the experience of others - people who start out being complete strangers. You all go out of your way to help, share, and give people a hand. Of course the music conversation is top notch for the most part (even the Wilco and Twiddle fans) whether it pertains to Lockn' artists or beyond; only to be exceeded by the Smart Assery, sarcasm, and wit.
To be a bit sappy: the kindness, openness, generosity, and sense of community demonstrated on the regular here is exactly why festivals can be such an amazing experience. The world can be a crazy place at times - it is always a gift to congregate or converse with people who share appreciation for the festival mantra of "celebrate all, love all, share, and be kind" and extend that mindset outside of the time parameters of a festival. Lockn' has a track record of phenomenal music - but Lockn' is a special event because of all of the people who love it and make it special. The soul is in the people who are attracted to the music, not simply the music itself.
All of that...plus it is clear that we all 100% love both Phish and Ween.
A special thanks to TOO $ for all of his work as the adult in the room the last few months and mccjeff for keeping the daily counter and conversations entertaining.
Have an awesome time at Lockn' and beyond. Thanks to all for the phan-freaking-tastic conversation over the past few months.
Kaboom!
