So what did you think of Ween?

One last thing: did Ishmael write Moby Dick? No, Herman Melville did. Not all songs are written from the perspective of their author. I swear, you have to do like John Prine and literally say "I am an old woman..." for people to get that these days, though. Gener and Deaner are not misogynists, or racists or xenophobes. The songs that seem that way are SATIRE and they're shining a light on the ignorant shitbags who DO think that way. Just like Zappa. 

There are three kinds of people when it comes to Ween (and Zappa): Those who get it, those who don't and hate them, and those who don't and like them. They love it when those who don't and hate them hate, because it's a perfect filter. If you're not contemplative enough to figure this stuff out, if you just knee-jerk react to the surface, you don't deserve to be their fan. Here's the best part: they really love taking the money from idiots who think they're serious. They're making fun of them to their faces, and those yo-yos are paying for the privilege. Again, just like Zappa.

I think someday I'll put all of this together into an essay for Fans.com. Then again, the joke isn't as funny if it needs to be explained. I just get sick of all the butthurt - not because it's directed at Ween, but because I'm seriously worried about some of y'all's blood pressure.

I dunno if they're actually members of the Church of the Subgenius, but they should be.
