Thanks, man! You are an unstoppable good idea machine. Also: I had almost the same accident, only everybody BUT me was tripping. Not good times, man. Not good times.
I honestly think it was worse in your case, as far as the mental aspect goes... not the physical aspect as the recovery took me almost 5 months to heal and walk on my own 2 stems again. The accident happened Memorial Day weekend, so all the festival and concert plans for that summer were toast. However, I did attend a Rolling Stones show with crutches/wheelchair combo 3 months after and my whole crew got pretty awesome seats b/c they had to wheel me in and out.
