A total of 25 people were arrested during the four-day festival, which was held at the end of August and attracted an estimated 28,000 people to Oak Ridge Estate in Arrington.
Fifty-six drug-related charges were filed, six people were arrested on public drunkenness charges, two were arrested for assault on a law enforcement officer and two people were arrested for child endangerment, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities seized contraband materials, cash and vehicles, according to a news release. Prosecution and forfeiture actions are pending.
Deputies from the sheriff’s offices in Nelson, Amherst and Augusta provided law enforcement services during Lockn’ this year.
During a meeting held last week that included representatives from the county, Virginia Department of Transportation, Virginia State Police, Virginia Department of Health, Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Wintergreen Fire and Rescue and the Lockn’ festival, “no major concerns or issues” with this year’s event were presented, County Administrator Stephen Carter said.
“The consensus was that this year’s Lockn’ Festival was, to date, the best administered [and] coordinated … of the four Lockn’ shows held to date,” Carter said in an email.
Carter said the agencies discussed additional coordination for upcoming Lockn’ festivals as well as minor changes in coordination of services, adding no possible changes of “major significance” were discussed.
According to Carter, Lockn’ co-founder Dave Frey said he’s planning a community meeting or multiple meetings to address noise concerns with residents who live in the general vicinity of the festival.

Hopefully the sound mitigation conversation goes well - neighborliness and getting along with the regional authorities is so very important to the long-term health of a festival.
With that said, I thought Lockn' had the best sound (despite a few hiccups here and there) of any festival I have attended. Beautiful wall of sound. Hope we don't hear them turn the volume from 11 to 10 next year.

I really like this.

He can solve noise concerns by not inviting MMJ back...

Trust me, it's the first time I've ever said it was too loud at a concert.
That's saying a lot seeing as I spent the majority of my teens in basements listening to god-awful punk bands that played way too fucking loud.

Maybe it was where we were camped, but I didn't see alot of police presence this year. Def less than last year. I know on every walk I made to get into the venue from GA RV, there were crowds of peeps all passing spliffs amongst each other. We walked right by the authorities, and nothing was said.
I have to say the best way I found to turn down the volume on the first Ween set, was to go back to the Airstream for a bit. Got tore up & returned to have a blast. I thought that was a very stupid move on Ween's part to play all the FU songs they have on their intro to Lockn. You would think one would be tryna gain fans, not turn them away. Each to his own I guess. I didn't hear anything in that first set that would make me wanna boogie.
Now....as far as the Hard Working Americans set...Dave Schools new bass was just pounding off of my chest. Whoever was soundboarding their set, had the bass jus' right: Pounding well thank you! Just wish they had played a later set. I'm still playing that set almost every day. It was frickin' HOT on that field while they played, but I sure am glad I gotta out of that cool ass Airstream to catch that set. My zen moment for that day for sure.
Peace y'all,
Fish

Civil forfeiture really pisses me off. It's legalized theft.

Please elaborate to the peons in GA RV. How bad were the patrols, and were they stopping folks that were smoking? Did they cart anyone away? Maybe it's cuz I was WAY WAY WAY out in the boonies. Our neighbors on the other side of the walkway were doing bong hits at 7am...I was like...whoa...wake & bake bruddah. No tanks brah.

This on top of the police dog searches at early entry (I know most of you did not experience this but I witnessed it first hand) just made it seem less relaxed this year in that respect.

And probably a good strategy to pacify the hardasses back at the police officers' station is a couple of hard searches and maybe some sniffing at the beginning so they can show that they put some effort in. Maybe they were training the dog; maybe he was sniffing for explosives (and in training).
I bet the arrests were of those dealing mass quantities or who didn't accept a warning and got all belligerent. Confiscation could be from dealers. And personally, they can do whatever they want with and to any Molly dealer.

However, the LEO patrols this year were more frequent and more intrusive than I've observed in any prior year. Both our vehicle and our camper were searched. Then they brought the dogs and sniffed them both. We later observed canine patrols throughout the camping areas; VIP and GA. May have been a training mission but I don't believe for explosives or anything else but 'contraband'. We went for a walk-a-bout and saw them get a hit on a campsite in VIP. Backup arrived on bicycles and in golf carts. Didn't hang around for the finale.
I thought the vibe was different. Lot's of LEO company at odd hours.
