Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
Actually, I like bagpipes OK, but I like that joke better. Heard it from one of my dad's friends named McNamara so it's legit. And I'm Scotch-Irish on my dad's side, full Irish every March 17. Please note: This forum is in no way officially associated with Lockn' Festival or its promoters.

But now that it's out, watch out for these two trip killers:
1. Being paralyzed by indecision. Someone suggests doing/eating at/going to see A and someone else says No. That person has no alternative suggestions. You suggest B and someone else says No. And offers no alternatives. Democracy does not work; diplomacy has been extended; the philosopher king is abdicated and the benevolent dictator is no longer benevolent.
So it's pizza again.
2. Some want a trip; some want a vacation. I'm a go go go person who will sleep when I'm dead. I do not want to spend all that money just to sleep late in a hotel. You can only accomplish things if you get an early start. Sit by a pool? Seriously?
But as you may surmise, my travelling companions, pre-determined and selected by God, and not chosen by me, want the opposite.
Solution: leave them and don't sweat it. But also avoid the issue by building in down time.

Holy sheet Batman. When I walked up & presented the letter, both of the guards jumped to attention, and we were quickly escorted into the papal office. I was flabbergasted, as was Kay. Unfortunately John Paul was not there, but we were asked if we needed anything, and then took us thru many corridors until they opened the door to the Sistine Chapel. We had a guide take us thru a pretty kick ass tour I'll say that. The Sistine Chapel is just breathtaking. To see Michelangelo's work was just amazing, and to be able to ask about each panel made it even more special. Ahh the memories. Careful around the Roman ruins, especially the colosseum. We saw two instances of purse snatching while we were there. And driving in Rome? You GBFKM! No way in hell. Light has been red for like 20 seconds, and they are still 8 abreast tryna get thru a 4 lane road. Frickin crazy!
Have fun, be safe, and do share some photos upon your safe arrival home.

We would travel well together! We like to see all we can see and walk around and peruse the shops and restaurants the locals go to. In Jamaica we went "off res" and our fellow travelers were shocked we came back alive! LOL! We had the best time being led down alleyways and bought great trinkets out of people's homes (we were in Montego Bay- IDK if I would have done that in Kingston).
Nick and I were in NYC last NYE and went with a couple who only wanted to be out of the flat we rented to grab a quick meal and got to MSG for the shows. It was TORTURE trying to get them up and going in the morning! They actually LEFT MSG at 12:05 after the balloon drop, and went back to Harlem and ordered take out and watched TV.
IN NYC!
ON NYE!
We went to Las Vegas with them in October, but did NOT stay together, and only saw them once. All she wanted to do in Vegas was go to Wahlburger! I almost died! Some people have no culture man...
Oh! And they go to Mexico every once in a while and she almost always stays in the room and sleeps in. Unreal!

What a fantastic story! I would give anything to have that level of access. Even though I'm a recovering Catholic, a tour would probably have me quivering on my knees and confessing all my sins and begging for forgiveness to anyone in a robe. Catholic architecture and imagery is very powerful, and designed to humble you and put the fear of god in you.
That being said, I attend church once a year on Christmas Eve (to appease the MIL), and this year I will most assuredly be a little tipsy when we get there. Packer game before mass. *hiccup*

Ciao!
PS: Smosey, luckily we all travel the same. We walked 95 miles in two weeks to say nothing of stairs, including my 10 yr old daughter. We have raised them to suck it up and power on. She actually said she was glad we are in shape as she didn't think some of the other parents would be able to do some of the things we did.
