Mrs. Bird had a good point. And this rolls into Jeffs thread. Anyone who is taking enough to OD is most likely an addict. And many addicts resort to stealing to get their fix. So unless they are stealing even more to afford Lockn tix and resisting the urge to spend it on more smack, this is again, alternate facts.

I fly my freak flag pretty high, and I'm pretty sure no one thinks any more of it than that I smoke shit. Ain't got no boss, so if they do think more'n that, fuck 'em. Actually, fuck' em anyways. Who needs 'em?

Heroin AND fentanyl, you say? Well, if them folks ain't got no tolerance, you better BELIEVE they gonna OD. Fentanyl is one of the few alkaloids, much less opiods, to be measured in MICROgrams. Back in the day I used to rock an 800 mic lolly in each cheek, but I bet none of you could get halfway through a 600 mic one without puking.

Plus heroin, no less.

Shooting guns and drinking heavily with my best bud (who is now an attorney)one weekend, I remarked "have you noticed we do the same things now as in high school, but now it is legal or we are reputable enough not to be questioned?" Grey hair and confidence is a great disguise.

I do not know if she actually believed what she was saying or not. I got the sense that exagerration was her modus operandi to make a point. What she didn't know was that anyone in her audience would know that it was complete bullshit.

While I agree that a heroin addict is unlikely to spend his money on a fest ticket and then score enough H to OD, there are so many opioids kicking around and it would be likely for someone to have a reaction from a one-time use. Lots of naïve first-timers or occasional users end up in the ER or on the slab.

I have heard of tragic results from first time use and know of one personally (A friend's daughter, UVA honors student, senior, straight arrow, tries something once. Dead.)

I hate the term "overdose" because it suggests someone miscalculated; seldom is that the case. There is usually something about the "dose" and not the (known) quantity used. One reason the homemade drugs like heroin and molly/X are more dangerous than pharma.

One of my best friends: his two sons and only children, died at age 28 and 26 respectively, 4 months apart, from the same batch of molly. In the second tragedy, his fiancé died with him. They loved the fest scene and Dead/Phish and were darling boys growing up with my children. Dead. Both of them. Four months apart. I visit their shared grave when I go by to check on my parents. No, they didn't "overdose" but that drug, that batch, their arrogance and ignorance, killed them sure as a hot shot.

We have a serious problem here and it calls for serious thinking and real information--not the hyperbole of the EMT that kicked this off (and maybe she didn't intend this) but just as the movie "Reefer Madness" made it all into a joke with false official information, we have a duty to get the real story out.

Splosives too. Don't forget the splosives.

After having their 11th child, an Alabama couple decided that was enough, as they could not afford a larger bed. So the husband went to his veterinarian and told him that he and his cousin didn't want to have any more children.

The doctor told him that there was a procedure called a vasectomy that could fix the problem but that it was expensive. A less costly alternative, said the doctor, was to go home, get a cherry bomb (fireworks are legal in Alabama), light it, put it in a beer can, then hold the can up to his ear and count to 10.

The Alabamian said to the doctor, "I may not be the smartest man in the world, but I don't see how putting a cherry bomb in a beer can next to my ear is going to help me".

"Trust me," said the doctor.

So the man went home, lit a cherry bomb and put it in a beer can. He held the can up to his ear and began to count:

At which point he paused, placed the beer can between his legs, an resumed counting on his other hand.
