Welcome to the Lockn' Forum - The home of the original Lockn' Music Festival family!
well those three together (assuming Krasno is going to be with Soulive) has megajam written all over it. There's a nice Haynes/King youtube of Hot 'Lanta, and King's bio is all about Hayes' support, too. Please note: This forum is in no way officially associated with Lockn' Festival or its promoters.

Fun times. Pics are really lousy. I either need a new phone or I gotta learn how to use the camera.
That's Eric Krasno to Marcus King's left. Awesomely talented artist. His band actually closed the show, but I didn't stay for all of that set. Great band, incredible singer they had. Just not my kind of music.

Since he had horns (sax/trumpet) he played several soul/funk songs, including Allain Toussant's "On the Way Down" and another that may have been Earth Wind and Fire. But they also played a Blind Faith tune--I'll look it up--which was only released 50 years ago by musicians his age (20)! His band was huge and so they stole the show with everything going on.
But the guitar work! Not only is he incredibly fast and accurate, he stretches around the fretboard to blend the richness of the lows, middles and highs, like Reinhardt, Gatton and Garcia. He leaves behind the others who just pluck around the high notes. During a jam with Krasno the two were cutting heads, a match like Duane and Dickie. Another song was pure Freddie King
There are plenty of young great guitarists who are technically proficient, like Bonnamassa. But he clearly has studied the masters to truly honor Henrix, Vaughan, and the others mentioned. Read his bio on the band's website, but better, watch for him to come to your town!
Let's hope he gets a good slot at Lockn. I hope he doesn't get ignored with the hare-brained idea of not opening the stage until 4. As for him and Krasno together, let's also hope they are back to back. They put the bands together for a killer Sugaree, done in the classic jazz format where each instrument played a slot, and then they crushed Whipping Post for a 20 minute jam that included two ventures into GD's Space!

Just got back.
Normally I wait till the next day to post my thoughts on a show for fear of "irrational exuberance", if you will.
However, Marcus King was unbelievably good. He channels Stevie Ray, Hayes, and Trucks (and there's good reason the latter two appear on his record) and the kid is only 20 years old. His voice is that perfect gravel bluesy scratch and you can just tell by watching him play that the torch will be handed to him to carry for years to come (good lord, willin').
His band was good enough (the horns just make it that much better) but its only a matter of time before King ends up with a kick ass band. I'm not saying there will ever be another TTB, but I'm telling you that you want to catch him now, if for no other reason than to say "I remember when I saw him....".
Depending on the weather at Lockn this year, I really hope he gets a late afternoon/early evening slot b/c anything earlier is just not fair to him or the fans that don't want to hit the sun too soon.
Eric Krasno was tight as hell and will also be a great set to catch, its just that I expected him to be good and he was, but Marcus King was just mind blowing.
I'll post setlists/videos if&when I can.

He has a gig on Saturday.
One difference I've noticed is that a lot of the bands will just be showing up for one day and then taking off, as lots of them have other dates booked on the weekend. I mean, I think a majority of bands were always in that situation, but I think there has usually been some bands/musicians hanging around most of the festival because they were playing multiple days and/or had days off elsewhere.
