So yesterday I mentioned, inappropriately I might add, in the "What are you reading" thread that I was reading an email that said my voice mail was full. Ok, whatever. Upon further investigation it turns out that the phone at my desk, the one that people call me on, the one that is listed on the company phone directory, the one I have had for the past almost 5 years...that one....it's not my phone. Seems I never set up my account on the fancy Cisco phone system and so I had a phone operating off of a guest account FOR 5 YEARS. I was just fine with that because frankly I don't use that phone and no one really calls me on it. Up until yesterday I couldn't even tell you what the extension was and I had it back behind my monitor where I couldn't even reach it. The people I work closely with know that if they want to talk to me they come and talk to me at my desk. Even if it is to ask me if I have opened my email yet (I have yet to do that today... nope nothing). So now I am all set up with an account and it looks like I am logged into the fancy Cisco phone system. But in the end it is a win for me. I now no longer have an inkling as to what my phone number is and better yet neither does anyone else!
SOOOOOOoooooooo...... If the Cisco system was the only one that knew what my account phone number was supposed to be then how could my voice mail be full? Who was calling me at a phantom phone? Interestingly, it was hundreds of the same message to press 1 for a free message from a correctional facility wanting to give me instructions on how to deposit funds into an account. What the hell?
