My point being that it seems there's no discussion we can have that will not eventually drift into the realm of economic doctrine, which leads to politics, or of politics itself. If you clean up after yourself, I commend you. But if you don't, I refuse to condemn you because A) the receptacles were probably overflowing, and B) there's an army of paid and volunteer workforce who come out after the main stage shuts down to do that. They might not be able to get in/be employed otherwise. That may or may not suck, depending on your perspective, but it's the way the real world* works. A horse farm would never allow for a festival of this size if they weren't confident that the grounds could be gone over with a fine-tooth comb after. I, personally, have left some stakes in the ground because after the EVERYBODY PANIC rain of 2014 the red clay mud had them positively glued in, and we wouldn't have gotten out in time otherwise. 



*"Real world," in this case defined by "as it is, and not as seen through ideological glasses."

Gee, thanks, buzzkill.  I wasn't looking for a lecture, but I guess some people will take any opportunity...

I really like to have them for lighting up my stuff - bag, chair, etc., to keep people from stepping on them, stumbling over a chair, barking a shin or worse.  Little flashlights can work, but aside from being too harsh a light, especially for folks that have ... heightened light sensitivity ... then you still have to deal with disposal of toxic batteries.  At least the glow sticks are non-toxic.

I typically leave the venue with more glowsticks than I bring in. Don't like leaving trash around and I'd rather make sure I leave with at least everything I bring in.

They were novel in the mid to late '80's. by the mid '90's you could expect them but they were not ubiquitous
