Starting to gather supplies for summer festivals. I'm generally disappointed every year in the bulk glowsticks I buy, and Lockn' has now banned Chinese lanterns (I buy the GREEN ones, dammit!).
Any recommendations?

BTW: Year One we went right into the main gate and set off our lanterns way in the back. A gentle wind was carrying the smoke from the smokers along with our lanterns right over the crowd and the main stage. That was epic. And we made lots of friends helping us set them off.
I kept bringing my lanterns the next year, and it was still fun dodging the guys coming up and telling us to stop. It was the most ridiculous crime ever.
Some people freak out about "rule breaking" though, so I'm leaving those out this year.

Helium balloons and magnesium tape. Potato cannon FTW. Get the "emergency light" glow thingies, cut it open, pour glowy juice into a squirt gun. Oh wait, for lockn'... potato cannon. epic. cover your potato with glow stick goo and fire away....
dollar tree is a good source for glow sticks, and Halloween stores.
Now's the time to scour yard and estate sales for gear, as well as trash day. Most of my rig, including faux-riental carpets, are from them.
There are lots of solar powered lights now. I should have bought some solar Xmas lights when they were on sale post-season.

AllGood 2010 WSP set break lantern show was epic. There had to be 500 min set off. I like to think all of them had the same amount of fuel and followed the same wind current. The next morning someone soewhere woke up to find 1000 on these all in their front yard.

I know I can get all high and mighty preachy about it but throwing plastic trash on the ground in pastures where horses normally graze is just bad. And don't get me started on fireworks. I love to see fireworks set off by pros. I do not want spunions near my camp setting them off. You do not want festival me making decisions about what is safe and not safe for you and yours at 3am.

True for a reasonable amount of space you are actually using, and a good way to recycle the litter, but those who stake out a large territory on the ground in the middle of the crowd make it easier for me to walk in their blankets.Good for delineating your space. We do use them as beacons. Pile up all your crap and then turn it into a glow stick illuminated mountain. Behind the front of soundboard of course. Picking up and properly disposing of glow sticks when we leave.

The only time I have used glow sticks has been to be able to see my children at events/shows when they were much younger. Otherwise I am of the opinion that they are garbage. Never understood why they were thrown around en mass as certain shows.

I am generally against them, but that MMJ video from last year during Steam Engine, when he drops: 'Take your money and your druuugggsss!'' and somebody throws about a hundred kinda makes me like them.

Just curious, when you go to a baseball game, do you pick up your peanut shells? I leave them. This gives somebody, who wouldn't otherwise have it, a job. And glow sticks at an outdoor fest suck. Throwing trash on the ground is throwing trash on the ground even if it is pretty for a few minutes.

I like the black box wines. Thinking I will stock up with 40 or 50 boxes. I have a big rv, will distribute them throughout all the nooks and crannies. In my defense, we are RVing to a lotta shows this summer!!!!!!!

I tend to pick things up that don't belong on the ground. Except used needles...I don't touch them. But come to think of it, if I'm at a music fest with used needles, I'm probably at the wrong festival.
