I'm optimistic that the food will be as good as years past. Lots of dynamics have changed and have been tuned up over the years as this event has matured.
I can't think of many business ventures riskier than fest vending. And a successful bricks and mortar business can't easily take the show on the road without major investment and different know-how. It's not something you just try, and it's not for the faint of heart or, more important, thinly capitalized. But with greater risk comes greater reward, too.
So while I may be disappointed if a favorite bows out, I'd rather know that favorite isn't struggling to make it work.
As long as the Pie Guy is there, that is.
