Rather than going basic K-Mart blah blah, I think I'm due for a chair I'll feel ahhhhhhhhhhhhh about. Anyone have a link they can share to one they've used and loved? Any price range will do - I guess you get what you pay for and this could be a long-term investment. I always go with the cheeps and they work. But we all know - 4 to 5 days in it? yeah, maybe worth investing this time around I ain't getting younger.

Im always afraid of them getting stolen since we aren't always with them. This is why I stick to the POS.

I feel pretty secure in leaving my Mississippi State chair unattended. In the first place who with any sense of self worth is going to steal it and secondly I will track you down and extract revenge if that is all I do the rest of the festival.
But we go with the Coleman chairs. I have become a fan of the breathable mesh back and I like the built in zippered pockets.

A luggage lock or homemade version allows you to secure a chair to a fence or something while vacant. Even locking two together will stop some drive-by snatchers.
Sadly, in today's consumer world, you can pay a lot more for a name brand from a top-end outdoor provision company and that one frail part made in China will fail anyway.
I see it a lot with boat-related equipment, which is expensive anyway, and has to be built to tolerate salt water and other adverse conditions, and be reliable, and yet even the top-end gear is substandard. I buy a lot of salvage and used gear now just to get good stainless and bronze.
I used to believe in paying for quality when it mattered, but did so sparingly, and I have seldom had any positive reinforcement for that in recent years.
Find something that's comfortable and appears reasonably well made. Then buy a back-up.

Sure it will. That clamp picture is unfortunate because the clamp is actually two semi-circles meant for a chair post (not flat). I use the cheap colemans Jeff was referencing and it works great.

I like the backpack chairs that include a smuggler's pouch.
My knees are acting stupid so I'd like to have a tall one but don't think I'll be able to, legally.

That would probably work, but at $20 the versabrella is very sturdy and 50 spf. I bought two of the $5 golf umbrellas from Home Depot and they both died in no time. Versabrella is still rocking.

Yeah, your prob right. I bought 3 of them. 1 for each of us and a backup. Figured at least one will break. Rest of our crew are on their own but i sent them the link. I prob would have paid 10x that much in the show field last yr. Hmmm, sounds like a vending opportunity.....

No, they arent that big. If your standing behind them, def not. We sat towards the rear where you had to watch the screens or stand up to see the stage anyway. They were all over the place and dont recall it being an issue. Now, BRB was a different story since the person in front of me had a regular umbrella. Looking downhill, no screens, umbrella 3' in front of you is a problem.

i've been using this one for several years. 800lb weight capacity, lol. very sturdy. through all the fests, nothing has started bending or fraying. two drink holders, two side pockets, mesh pack on the back, two straps on carrying case so you can wear it like a backpack if you want. highly recommended.

Thought you were kidding about the 800 lb rating. Its expensive but if it lasts, and doesnt have the typical 225 lb rating that puts me on the cusp of sitting in the chair or on the ground in a split second, than probably worth it.

Some festivals don't allow chairs in that the bottom of the seat is any higher than 12" off the ground (cough-bonnaroo-cough). So this one looks comfy and sturdy but you might have trouble getting it in to some of the festivals.

I have this one that I got at Sams. A bit hard to get out of, but nice and portable:
It is only 13" long in its bag, and only weighs 2.5 lbs. And only $25!

I love my backpack chairs! They've been to 3 Lockn's (and many other events) so and still in good shape. Really light (empty) and easy to carry. They fit a lot of stuff and are very comfortable.I like the backpack chairs that include a smuggler's pouch.
My knees are acting stupid so I'd like to have a tall one but don't think I'll be able to, legally.
Donna wants to get a big cushion to add to hers because she complains about the bar under the seat when sitting in it for a long time (like, all weekend), but that's not a problem I've ever had with it.
I'd send a link but I haven't been able to find anything like it recently. I think they originally came from Target.

This is a lot like mine, but it's made of steel instead of aluminum. I'm sure I didn't pay that much for mine, either. I'd rather have aluminum, steel would be a lot heavier.

I had an awesome pink Penn State chair for a while. I loved it because it was really easy to spot and everyone knew it was mine. But alas...it died last year. I've tried many alternatives but nothing is the same.
