I have not been to this venue but in most of central Virginia there is a ton of Red clay which does not drain well at all, so that is probably what was causing the sogginess. If the red clay is exposed at all it is very hard on your clothes and stains easily.

For those of you about to rock at car camping I would suggest practice walking now. I dont mind a few mile walk but realistically you should plan on 8-12 miles a day (plus dancing) unless you have the money to eat your meals at the show(they wont let you bring food) and you have the ability to stand in the sun all day with no shade. I know I am one of those whiners but man Im in good shape, but after several beers,dust in my lungs and 2-3 trips a day back to the car I was to wiped out to dance. Hopefully they will figure out some free shuttles for us poor people. After spending $400 plus gas/food/beer, I didnt have money for those kamikaze golf cart rides. Also, bring a handkerchief for the dust on the walk back to camp. Bring ice and store it smart, bags were 20$ from vendors, bring some kind of portable shade, the temp wasnt bad but the son was evil after day 2, there was some burnt peeps. Bring some cigarettes to sell on the lot, I could have made my ticket money back in cigs, also bring containers for make shift showers, the hot ones were a 2hr wait and you stood in 1ft deep leftover shower water. Other than that...have fun.

Here's what I did for breakfast: fry up some bacon, put aside. throw in some hash browns, frozen peppers and onions, and fry them up in the bacon grease. once those are close to done, threw a few eggs on and mix it all up. once it's good and cooked, crumble up the bacon and add back to the mixture.  Throw it all on a tortilla and put some cheese on top. that breakfast will keep you going half the day. light dinner at the venue, then scarf when you get back. i danced my fat ass off all day, every day and never once felt the need to go back to camp. well, at least not a great enough need to make that long ass walk. besides, the music was just too damn good to miss any of it!

edited post cause i forgot the part where i crumble the bacon up and throw it back into the mix. dude, the more the merrier. i always have leftovers. it's a seriously hardy meal. lots of carbs, protein, and fats to keep you coming all day. just look for the big smiley face flag flying high!

from what i remember, tent only camping was within the bowl. i'd say that's a fine plan. it was the poor people in car camping that had to walk their bikes up the hill to get back that were struggling. as far as food in the venue, they didn't really search my pockets, so i brought in beef jerky and a couple of nature valley bars every day. anything more than that is really pushing it.

Bike is definitely a good plan. Once you get past that first hill it's pretty smooth sailing. And to sneak in food, a complicated backpack is your best friend. No way will they search every single pocket. Also it's really helpful to hide your food within other stuff (e.g. a protein bar disguised as a ziploc baggie full of toilet paper or a bag of beef jerky rolled up within a blanket).

It is different. Looks like RV (my area of interest) spills over the hill down towards the stages in what was the parking for tent only. Plus they are opening an entire new car camping.

Same here.  I bought one bag a day for $10 each.  But $10 inside festy grounds for a big bag that would have cost $5 at the local Sheetz.  Really not that bad.  I didn't feel nearly as ripped off as I did with $8 for a beer.
