I already seeing this 9am gate time being a huge issue but, then again as someone said: it's not like 80,000 people, like Roo. Logistics will be either a hit or a miss and with this being the first year I'm thinking a miss. But I'm not worried about it. My plans to go to charlottesville for the pre-partay and sleep in a hotel for one good nights sleep then being at the site by 7-8 am.

I am guessing I will be camping in the far reaches of outer Siberia in car camping area #2 -- somewhere near Roanoke, downhill from the porta-potties, in that swampy but somehow still rocky area that all the farm animals instinctively avoid.
he'll either get one of the best GA campsites or the worst. I really hope they start filling area 1 first...sometimes arriving late is a blessing in deguise.... i bet the line will be shorter by then

I'm heading out when I get off wed night looking like about a 5-6 am thurs morn arrival. No sleep till I get there.

So on Facebook, they posted a traffic pattern map and said that tollbooths open prompty at 9 a.m. and to not show up in the middle of the night Wednesday. Does this change anyone's plans about arriving early?

linzmarie - doesn't change my plans, but only because we arrive Wednesday afternoon. Also, CID is telling VIP ticket holders they have a field for us to camp in on Wednesday night. If for some reason we get turned away, well then, guess we'll deal with that as it happens!

thanks, sue, for liking this post. reminds me of what a forward-thinking genius i am if they don't open the doors early, it's going to be a disaster. i'll be there not too long after midnight. ill sleep in my car in line if i have to. i just hope that when they see the thousands of cars lined up, that they know they have no choice but to open it up
