This. I keep my food on block ice only (mainly frozen juice bottles full of water and frozen 20 oz bottles of water). I keep my beer in a combination of blocks and smaller cubes (because beer straight from icy water is amazing).I prefer several small coolers over a couple of large ones. Less air space so they stay colder longer; you can keep them sealed; if you separate food from beer (and label them!) you don't have as many unnecessary openings.

I have a recent sad cooler experience but I'll save it for later because Cooler Karma is needed for Peach.
So here is my cooler pro-tip: After years of pushing this method, I finally got one of my "crew" to go along with not draining cool water onto the ground to make room for more ice. Instead drain the water into a bucket/garbage bag/whatever and chill down the 100 degree 30 pack that you just pulled out of the black mini van before plunging it into your fresh $10 bag of ice. In my mind it's free cooling which equals longer lasting ice.

An article in today's WaPo is about people who asphyxiated from dry ice "melting" in their vehicles. It is, after all, just CO2 and you will never know it's there.
So keep your vehicle ventilated while driving and be careful entering a vehicle in which you have stored dry ice. Dry ice inside an RV could be especially risky.

I just got a Yeti Tundra 45 and i'm so scared of having it stolen from our site when we are in the stage grounds. I have no reason to even think someone would steal from us, its never happened before- but I get nervous about the pricey items being left unattended. Any advice on how to stake it down so I can have peace of mind? I'd prefer not to stow it in the truck every time I leave the site if possible because its quite heavy. Thank you!

Meh. A yeti is too heavy to steal-except maybe the last day.
put a good sticker on it so you can find it, also an identifying mark in a hidden place.
Nice thing about a Yeti is that it can withstand being left in the car. But then you have to move it around.
A good type of cable lock is a home made deal with a length of plastic coated cable and a tennis-ball sixed object on each end--like a block of wood with holes drilled in it to thread the cable through. you cable your stuff outside the car, then slam the two ends inside the car and lock it; thieves can't pull the cable out due to the blocks.
Generally security at Lockn merely requires something to keep someone from grabbing a tempting item while walking by. They are more likely to take the beer out of the cooler than the cooler itself.

i'm so sorry that happened to you, that's really upsetting. This festival is the last place you should have to worry about being personally violated in any way. They'll get theirs, but man, that would be so disappointing. I agree, its best to lock it in the car. Light items like my bose speaker go easily in the car, but I'm tent camping and those coolers are heavy. I'm trying to explore viable solutions that don't involve hauling it back and fourth from my truck- i like the lock ideas so far, i think anything that makes it look like a pain in the ass to just grab and go will be beneficial. Unfortunately I've had stuff stolen before. I now lock up everything in my vehicle when possible.
Also, hopefully everyone that saw this post will be sure to get to know your neighbors and try to look out for each other's stuff- and any of you that may tell yourself that its okay to take something that isn't yours, i hope you receive the love you so desperately need, and soon, so you can stop hurting people that have done nothing to you.

Another pro tip: I store my coolers under a table that is covered with a big tablecloth. This not only hides the coolers from sight, it helps keep them shaded so they hold ice better.

Out of 20,000 people there will be a bad guy or two, like anywhere you go. There was also an earlier Lockn where we suspected some outside people jumped the fence and ran up into the camping areas; haven't heard of a repeat of that.
There will always be those whose judgment is impaired who will succumb to temptation or stupidity. You are most exposed to those types if you are on a major walkway. I've had locations with no cares and another where I felt it best to keep my smalls secure.

I remember that Lockn I think it was L2 people had issues with theft. Since then we really haven't had a problem with it. We bring a table and put a tapestry over it and the cooler under it and have had 0 problems.
Hell @ L4 I left my Wallet and Beer in a portajon with $175 in it and the sound crew guy who found it turned it immediately into lost and found with not a dime missing. Only @ Lockn will you find such kindness from people. The note he left in the bag was, "Hey man, thought you might need this! Don't lose it again! Happy Lockn!! -One of the Sound guys...
