Hey everyone- Lockn first timer here. Thanks for all the info on the boards.
I bought the 4 day parking pass and will be camping in the forest. Question is- will I be free to come and go with my car if I want to go out during the day?

Historically, in and out traffic was limited to the day lot. I would expect it to be the same this year.

A final thought. Check out Infinity Downs Farm / Lockn 2017 map. TOO has created a very helpful map that will get you oriented. You can see where the day lot is relative to Forrest Camping.

Technically this is what they have always said, but people have always done the in-out thing with tent-only camping. I don't know about forest. In both cases the car is in a lot and not moving through the camping area itself.

If they charge you for day parking, it gets pretty steep.
Basic rule is that if you drive away from your camping area, you have to park at day parking and pay the fees.
You might also have an issue on your last day trying to drive back to the camping area to load out.

I think the general policy is no leaving the grounds once your in unless its day parking. That being said, we are Ga RV and had to leave to go to the pharmacy in Lovingston last year. Wife forgot high blood pressure meds. Got a prescription and doctors note from the medical tent allowing us to leave and re enter. We had to show it on the way in and out. So there are exceptions to the rule but not many. Otherwise you would have people make beer runs and late night munchie runs galore. I did accidentally pick up a case on way back from pharmacy though.

We thought we may go hiking or hit a local brewery. Sounds like we will be staying put though.

There is not really any reason to leave. You can get more than enough hiking in just walking back and forth to camp and a lot of the local breweries are represented there. If you want to explore more of Nelson Co, which is a really good idea, do it some other time that amazing music that you paid for isn't playing. This is presuming you are coming for the music.

Or come a day early, or stay a day late! Lots of great hiking around; find some of the old posts from last year because in Virginia, things don't change much.
There are also great drives in the vicinity and scenic route alternatives if you are not in a hurry and are travelling in the daytime.
