I thought we had a thread on musicians who recently died but who might not warrant his own thread. Guess not; here goes:
Glenn Campbell died today at 80.

Although he used to irritate me with his clean-cuttedness (as does John Denver still) in my outlaw days, I have come to respect his work; he was a great session guy, with the Wrecking Crew, and wrote some really good songs--lyrically. Wichita Lineman stands out. I also like Galveston and Time I Get to Phoenix.
Drive By Truckers did a nice song (a Cooley tune) that hearkened to his style and I saw Mike acknowledge that at a live performance.
There was a great youtube of a 1960's TV show with Glen and Leon Russell playing together but I think it's been yanked. A clean-cut Leon but that stare....
I like reading in the article that he was influenced by Django Reinhart--I seem to go back to him a lot these days.
